If codemasters produce this type of ontrack action, they'll have a winner on their hands..

Take it you’re using CSM and TSM to manage your carsets etc. To be honest I’m not sure what had gone wrong, I’ve got the 1991 season installed and all I do is make sure in TSM the 1991 real profile is loaded. CSM will then talk to TSM and load the track.ini files and the first race if I can remember is USA – Phoenix and the sixth race should be Monaco with the second to last race Australia.

TSM should have a pre-defined profile but it sounds like you’ve got it sorted. I found the 1991 modpack to be about the most complete F1GP4 modpack ever released. It changes pretty much the whole game, new intro, new menus and of cause you get to race the legendary McLaren MP4 / 6 and Williams FW14. Although the McLaren MP4 /4 was a better machine, and the Williams FW14B gave Mansell the Championship in 1992. Glad I've got you back into GP4.. Tie you over until F1 2010 comes out, if its any good that is.

Anyhow the 1991 modpack is like Microprose F1GP for the Amiga but on steroids..!! that’s quite scary actually, the first Microprose F1GP game was actually, well to a degree, based on the 1991 F1 season. Showing my age….

I’m going to try and get the 2009 season up and running soon, I’ve got a 2009 mod template, apparently all you need to do is install the tracks and the cars. I wish they’d sort this permissions lark out. That’s why no new modpacks are being released. You need permission from the author’s of any cars etc before most sites will host a complete mudpack, reason torrents are full of leeched packs… Bad really.

Was there not another F1 game on PS3 about 4-5 years ago (it could have been sub only though). I remember going once for some Audio+TV show and they had those awesome PS3+projector+proper racing wheels with proper sits simulators. I played on it and even though they changed a lot of setting to auto so I could actually manage a lap the game looked and played very very nicely, I remember I took a leaflet home and checked their website ect but it was all very expensive kit.

Yeah, i asked about 2007-2009 mods on gpg earlier, there were permission problems that why it couldn't be released.

To be honest i'm tired of these stupid rules, and there is always the same few guys who ruin it for everyone.

Here are the new sounds i was talking about earlier:

Would make the 1991 season come even more alive!

If you'd like, i could send you my cars.wad for the 2010 season and you can start building your own csm mod from scratch.

Does anyone have screenshots of the HUD which shows how tyre degradation and fuel consumption is relayed to the player ?

What about tweaking the wings a few degrees during a pit stop, is this possible ?

I'm assuming its the 2010 rules meaning using 2 tyre compounds during the race unless its wet ?

Yes using CSM but i had installed the plus pack but not the first pack if you get my drift I also had Microprose F1GP for the Amiga not great frame rate but loved it ,then i moved to the pc with a dx50 and vesa local bus gfx card :D installed the pc vesion turned the frame rate up and was blown away with smooth game play my dreams had all come true I m kinda old also and maybe a little sad :)

A written interview:
http://www.icgamers.com/articles/10859/interview-codemasters-on-f1-2010.html

Doesn't particularly bring anything new or that we haven't heard before.

Basically re-inforces the complete lack of customisation and personalisation allowed under the strict FOM licence (I find their answer to this question quite a joke in that players will be personalisable by the likely press conference drop-drop conversation box I'm predicting). Also that all rules, teams, tracks etc. of the 2010 season will be in the game ruling out past tracks/circuits/drivers/in-race refuelling. Although I don't hear the safety car or formation lap being scrapped in real life!

I wonder if Codemasters will be bothered to create Hispania's 3rd competing driver Yamamoto.

Anybody found any info on what the radio transmissions will be like as the single or so clips which do feature are extremely basic if not useless "you're in the lead...great overtaking maneuver" instead of proper timings, and traffic reports etc.

I cannot wait for this game... this is gaming porn at its best. I really enjoy this type of game....but...

.....From all the interviews and shows that I have watched, this game is not a Sim...far from it to be honest... but it should have an acceptable balance for sim gamers (although most hardcore fans will not have there thirst for realism quenched).

I have heard some hardcore sim players saying that they want this game to satisfy there lust for "all that is real" , this game will not deliver that... thats for iRacing.. This is for the mainstream gamers that enjoy a modicum of realism, with a dash of complete unrealistic fun. Afterall, this game has to be playable by the majority of gamers so there is no way this is going to be what devs have described as a 8/10 full on Sim, however; it may have enough to introduce newcomers into the Sim racing world.

Codemasters have created some great arcade racing games and the graphics have always been top notch.. Grid and Dirt 2 I still play and I have to say that I am still impressed with Grids Re-playabilty, online and offline modes are decent and the graphics and sound are excellent.

This game promises to deliver one of the best racing games on the PC for a long time, the graphics look outstanding.... My new G27 has been delivered and I is ready to go!!! :)

Hmmm seems Codemasters might be limited as to what they can and cannot do, due to licensing from FIA and advise from FOM. Some of the stuff we wanted to see could be out of their control.

Such as historic F1 events, more then 19 tracks of the current season, driver changes – as in seeing Hamilton drive for Ferrari etc..

It is however a shame that safety car, formation lap and proper reliability for your car will not be included. The reliability is a bit of puzzlement, safety car is as well. I wonder if the game will feature full race course yellow instead? I know there will be no black or red flag, meaning the entire race will not end if ontrack carnage is too much or you drive into everything…

This will be basically 19 races of the current 2010 F1 season, but I agree. This game will not satisfy racing purists. This will be what I suspect to be a simul-cader. Part Simulation with Arcade aspects that can be turned down or up to make the game playable to a wider group of consumers.

I’ve made the word up, don’t care. Its not going to be a simulation, but it should be enough for most, and it’ll be the first of many F1 games from Codemasters - well not the first, Wii had 2009, but less said about that, the better.

Least the license is with a group that is kinda into creating decent racing games, sadly this will not be enough for those who’ve been playing years of Grand Prix 4, Grand Prix Legends or iRacnig.

It will however introduce new F1 gamers, give semi hardcore racers something to play with, and for me, well I’ll take it as I can’t get a 2010 mod working for Grand Prix 4 at the moment, so this’ll do…

I’ve already got a 2010 car.wad for GP4, but without the tracks and the rest of it, its not the same.

I really do hope that codemasters have not introduced – keep going your in second radio chatter. Man, that is just so lame. Now, if its ‘you’ve got to watch your braking, its too hard’ or ‘pit in two laps’ or ‘car number xx is going quicker – pull over’ then it’ll be realistic.. lol Last one is a joke BTW, but only if you drive in a Ferrari, if you drive a McLaren you can quality pole, run out of fuel and push the car back to the pits in Canada..

Ah and yes. I know my desktop will run it just fine..

What about my laptop - i5 540m CPU, 5650 1GB GPU with 4GB ram, would that run this at a decent res, max detail, or should I just get the PS3 version to play on my 42" plasma?

I'm never too keen on PS3 for some racers, they lock the fps to 30fps for some, and Grid on PS3 had awful screen tearing..

"You do have the ability to alter the front-wing setting during a race." - That's one of my questions answered.

"We’ve got some grand plans for our AI in future versions of the game. This is merely the first step." - Yay, more F1 games.

However, no demo, and no formation lap is a bit  but hey it's a new F1 game so I'll take it :p

The no demo is a bit odd, I would've liked a PC demo so as I can gauge of my laptop will run this at a decent res with good settings - as in MAX details but won't be doing this now.

Formation lap is also odd. It must be tricky for them to program all cars lining back up on the grid again, would've thought some script would have done the trick but hey ho... As you say, its the 2010 season, it has all 19 circuits, looks to be decent looking and has quite a few good features. If the handling is good, oh well its a modern F1 game - so yes I'll take it as well.

My exact same reason for wanting a demo is performance testing. If I buy it for the PC will it run like a dog or as smooth as hot candle wax dripping over Katty Perrys body. Plus my Xbox 360 died 2 days ago and I have no other choice but to buy it for the PC as I refuse to pay for another one, so it better work!. :p

I don't know. Its either they haven't the time to create a demo, as they are committed to 24th Sept release date, or the game is bad and they don't want too many to find out before they hand over the cash..

As for PC v console. Yep, but PC version isn't fps locked, can run at higher res and as somone else pointed out - has free online gameplay. So, provided your PC or laptop can run it, no contest really. PC version all the way.

We have to remember this game is being developed in a short space of time to coincide with the current season. Over the next few years is where the intricacies and formalities of the sport may be coded into the game with any luck much like other sport franchise games.

Give the DiRT 2 demo a go, should be a fairly good benchmark for F1 2010 performance.
