Tried it again after the patch, qualified 2nd on legend difficulty, got shunted on the first lap T-boned by an AI car that kept its foot down pushing me sideways down the entire length of the straight.
And I still get 25 fps dips on a machine that runs BF3 on high at 60+.
Not for me.
The game is a write off. I keep reading from PC users on the Codemasters forum as well as other forums people losing 10 fps plus. Excusing raw hardware, the game is a crap port. It is. No excuse can help it. It also proves that. They didn't sort the corrupt saves. When the patch was coming or the game was ready for release, the game developers were all over the forum. With all the bugs exposed and still cropping up etc they fled. Only their Community Manager sticks around and chooses what he'll comment on and usually it's very little.
Their answer to the bad graphics (lack of AA) to the PS3 version was to add motion blur to cover it up. Fantastic coding. 33MB download... who releases such tiny patches in these modern days and uses the excuse, it's because of console limitations, bandwidth usage for customers and ISP's. That's a copout.
Every patch they release they break more than they fix. Codemasters are a shoddy game developer for F1. Even on the PS3 my brakes are screwed. I'm not half way on the pedal and the wheels are locking up terribly at fast speeds, 5th/6th. Even with 0 sensitivity. I never had this before the patch. You could feed in the brake. They wouldn't start to lock until mid low 4th gear and lower. Downforce at high speed would stop the wheels locking until you had gotten to speeds of mechanical grip.
It's also stupid how Codemasters has no clue about brake bias. Or car physics. Soon as you start putting a lot of rear brake bias the car will snap oversteer in proper physics. This game it's barely good. 51% front tons of understeer. 60% rear no oversteer. Well I'm not saying you don't get oversteer but it's minuscule. There's not enough in it to cause anything drastic in proper physics.
Codemasters 60% rear feels like a properly setup 53/54% front brake bias.
Even the suspension they have no clue about stiffness or even rollbars. The game suspension physics feels like road cars. Not finely tuned open wheelers. The responsiveness of suspension movement to power/brake and wheel input is so sluggish compared to the likes of Ferrari Virtual Academy/rFactor with exceptional mods.
Glitched times are also starting to appear again on Time Trial.
