***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

Why don't you just wait and see what people complain about on the official forums rather than getting an illegal copy of it? Theny you know to buy it or not.

That's not what he's saying. He's advising that I buy it legally on disc, but instead of having the disc constantly in my drive (which I really don't want), just "acquire" a no-cd file to play the game. In essence I've installed the game with the correct license key and what not...just by passing the use of the disc.

To be fair, that was kinda what i was implying (after giving you the advice you wrote above) i would do myself if there isnt a demo. If its as good as some reviews suggest, and my own experience with it agrees, then i'll buy it, not a problem with buying the game. What i have a problem with is trusting Codemasters after the shambles of F1 2010, they lied before and after release about aspects of the game, how things were done, so i no longer trust a word they say about the product they're trying to flog to customers. I could read peoples reviews at launch, but theres too many people who think 2010 wasnt a joke, plenty who said Expert (whatever top difficulty was) was impossible to win in anything but a top car, and people were lying, despite the fact that it was doable in a Lotus at 75% of the tracks (I won WDC & WCC single handedly in my very first season in the Lotus).
I trust my judgement, its the only opinion that counts. Codemasters claimed there was no demo last year due to time limitations it being a new game engine etc (aka modification of DIRT engine), well funnily enough they dont appear to be able to do one this year either. Im not giving them the benefit of the doubt, did that last year (Steam & PS3) and they took my money and dumped F1 2010 on my lap and ignored all its failings and what it was supposed to provide.

Had they given past customers discounted rates to buy it, as a good will gesture, i'd probably give it a go. Instead they want full price, and im seeking my own demo. If its good, i'll buy. If its bad, it'll be deleted, ive zero interest in playing a poor game, the only aspect im bothered about this year is the co-op championships, i cant do that with a dodgy copy, i can assess whether they've faked an F1 sim and lied to everyone yet again. No remorse, no sign of acknowledgement that it wasnt what they promised, just 'weve made it even better this year, now hand over £20-35 without a demo after being fooled by our lies last year'.

Shouldnt be too surprised though with Ant Davidson as a technical adviser, think I have as much F1 experience just from watching TV!

Is that when the first update is due :D

Don't be silly, they'll be denying any and all bugs for at least the next month :p

On a more serious note, I told myself I wouldn't spend more than a tenner on this, kinda amusing that it's almost down to that before it's even out, might even get a chance to play it before christmas at this rate :p

Going to GAMEFest today so hope to give 2011 a try :-)

Could I ask for a few things to be tested out by you.

1. The time it takes to make a pit stop (it should be <4 seconds for tires only)

2. The speed of AI on tracks like Melbourne and Spa (they slowed down at the bottom of eau rouge in 2010)

3. Does the engineer talk sense i.e. telling you about Virgin and HRT rather than Ferrari when you are driving for Lotus.

4. What happens if you lightly touch the back of another car, do you still get a 20 second penalty for "causing a collision".

5.if time trial is available could you try cutting the first corner in Montreal, right up on the grass?.

6. Try touching some kerbs in Marina Bay. In 2010 you would instantly spin, is it still the same?.

Cheers and have great time!.
