***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

Unless they use SecuROM, which F1 2010, as well as a few other of my most recent games, does. F1 2011 probably will, but hopefully it won't. You get that annoying "no disc inserted" message if you... don't have the disc in.

Ofcourse, but I don't think 2011 necessarily will as if you have bought it and it's activated on steam you're not required to have the disc because you bought it digitally.

However I've preordered on the PS3, got it for about £31 with 10% off through email and quidco, However I hope that it isn't laggy like 2010 is on the PS3 sometimes, I'm really expecting smooth 60 frames despite me having doubts as it's rare the PS3 can constantly keep it that high where as most of the time my xbox can (which really does show what the main development console was).

also, anyone else getting it on PS3 and want a co-op buddy? :D, Awesome feature! can't wait now, this is going to make it very competetive :D.

F1 2011 PC £17.99 at xxx as of right now....

Are you allowed to post the link?

Is there anyway of cancelling my order with the previous cheapest company if I've already paid?

Edit:

Just found this on the site:
PAID PRE-ORDER TERMS
- If you decide to cancel a paid pre-order funds paid will appear in your <removed> account balance.

I'm within my rights to cancel this and get my money back (not a voucher) aren't I?

Not sure but am sure people can search on play so removed it....

Don't know about cancellations for pre-order, sorry.

Man that's an awesome price...but...do I risk paying more on Steam for the simple fact I cannot be bothered with having a disc? Or buy off play.com and then wait for it to go down in price on Steam later on and purchase and hide the disc somewhere? Hmmm...tough one. No? :p :D

Cannot wait for this to come out now.

All the stuff that has been said by those who have played it already is pretty positive especially when compared to last year.

Gonna probably up my race distance to 50% in career now because tyre and fuel strategy seems a lot more involved especially with the pirellis

Couldnt you buy the disc based version, make an ISO copy (or 'get' one) and mount that into a virtual drive, the game is looking for a legit key/login account and you've got the disc showing up, should be all set?

Years ago, maybe still now, there used to be tiny fake cd files that were under 1mb and looked like the disc to fool games. That would be what i'd be looking to do if i didnt want to store it 24/7, i usually stockpile them and delete them from time to time and re-get them if need be later on.
I've not had a DVD rom in a machine for about 3yrs, i've always bought the retail version, 'found' a digital copy, installed it and got on with things in a 99.9% legit manner but side-stepping their silly protection.
I wont pay 30% more for a steam version which hasnt had shipping & packaging costs to consider purely to do away with the requirement that i have their disc in a drive i do not own.
Give me a disc and it will stay in the box unused, but sell me the game on a USB stick, and i'll plug it in, and it wouldnt be unfeasable to have 3-4 games connected to a hub and have instantly available.
Steam is handy, but im not paying what often amounts to a £10/30% premium for it, never will either.

Im still very on the fence about F1 2011 because of 2010. Seeing the thread Gimpymoo started on the official forum kinda sums it up, i have absolutely ZERO faith in them, before or after launch. They made a mess of it, and because they're always focusing on the next version and that payday rather than satisfying those they've took money from, it makes it very hard to trust them again.

Online co-op is about the only thing thats keeping me from totally dismissing it. Im thinking i'll just try the 'demo' and see if its playable and buy it then. Does anyone know if there will be an official demo before release? Im guessing not, another 'not enough time' just like last years excuse.

Why don't you just wait and see what people complain about on the official forums rather than getting an illegal copy of it? Theny you know to buy it or not.

Two quotes from one of the above links. I didn't bother with the other review.

I also love my racing games; F1 2010 is my most played game of the last year.

At this point I knew it would be a biased review.

I immediately comment to Lee how clean and slick the menus are. They were great in 2010 but now, they look even better

The menu System is 2010 was horrid. I stopped reading at this point. I'll wait for proper player reviews.
