***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

Damage model hasnt changed since last year according to posts on the official forum. Actually it looks like a lot of copy'n'paste went on at CM.

To be fair they are heavily limited by the FOM license as regards damage, they could do more, they just aren't allowed to.

You practicaly hit the car infront at full speed at the end of the video and nowt happens. In reality there would be bits everywhere. Everywhere.

Thats a cop out imo. Previous F1 games had better damage. Hood said himself earlier in the year that there were no FOM resitrictions on damage, seems to have gone back on that now though.

Well no doubt the FOM agreement has changed since "previous" games and could have had this written into CMs agreement. I've only ever heard the devs say that's the reason, no damage allowed to anything remotely close to the driver/survival cell, but if they have gone back on their word then that's a bit rubbish.

There's no technical reason why they can't do it, just look at Dirt/Grid, so I assume it can only be licensing.

To be honest this conversation was had last year, and no videos prior to launch have shown any additional damage modelling, so let's not be suddenly surprised/angry that it's still the same. I genuinely don't get all the CM bashing, it seems PC gamers and console gamers opinions of the same company are poles apart. Perhaps PC gamers don't like the fact the official F1 game isn't simmy enough for them and blame a largely console-based developer for ruining it?

It's disappointing, damage on old CM games like Grid was so much better. Slight meet with the barriers in that game and you'd have visible dents and scuffles. Heavy impact at an angle and your steering would be off.

Seems a step backwards to go back to bumpercars.

It does seem a shame to remove a key factor to F1 racing i.e. AVOIDING other cars, it's nice to see AI make mistakes, there should be DNF due to accidents to spice things up.

If you can lose a wheel (which goes flying high into the air and can look dangerous in itself) then there is no reason you can't suffer suspention damage if you glance a barrier etc I understand keeping the safety cell untouched but sidepods, rear wings should come apart, there's no excuse just lazyness and lack of vision.

Just took a screenshot :p

I done a 1:40:276 in Time Trial with the Red Bull.

Can actually feel some sort of weight to the car/camber in the road, last year it felt pretty rigid.

I'm bloody **** at this game now after leaving it so long.

Also can you still go flat out at that like S shaped chicane thing in melbourne, about 4 corners before the end?

Do you think you could possibly ever meet that time?

Murray I think you should be able to do it flat out if you drop from gear 7 to 5 on that s chicane at melbourne
