***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

I want to be excited by this because I like f1 and racing games, but codemasters really sapped my enthusiasm with the lack of support for 2010 :(

i predict 3 things.

1, PC game sales are going to tank really really bad because of how poor f1 2010 was and how it just felt like a beta test of f1 2011...
2, They will blame it all on PC piracy
3, the game will be full of as many bugs as the original or cheating AI and just as bad probably with another stupid colour filter rather than trying to match real life colours

Looking forward to this. :) If there's no release delay, we're looking at just under 6 weeks if it's slated for 23rd sept.

There's pre-order at £23.86 + free shipping at shopto. Do you think that's as cheap as it'll get while the game is new? I don't want to go through steam again, I want a hard copy this time, and at least when reinstalling it won't take 3 or 4 hours to redownload it.

Codemasters really are the masters of making you buy the same game again but this time its pre-patched for your convienience! F1 2010 was dire and had so many issues I doubt F1 2011 will be much different!

F1 2010 Issues:

Pathetic rules system which meant if you crashed & it was not even your fault or got pushed by another car over the kerb you got a penalty every single time. The game is not even a sim so for an arcade based game this is ridiculous :(

Flashback system to allow you to correct mistakes. So Codemasters apply some OTT rules but also let you race against others & use a get out of free card (which is effectively unlimited).

If you use any mods the patched game will stop saving at all. Yet by copying back a single pre-patched file you can save again. This means MP is worthless as so many cheaters who use tyre grip mods since day one to become unbeatable & you cannot even tell for sure if they are cheating or not but most are as they are so far ahead by the 1st corner its obvious!

Endless loading time between sessions & a long winded front end.

Poor background gfx & weak sound fx + annoying engineers voice.

I won't be buying this, they didn't even finish F1 2010. Idiots!

The youtube video above says it all to be honest, comments like 'What we learnt from F1 2010' guinea pig gamers \o/ what a waste of money that was,

Pretty much what I am expecting. Had they fully supported F1 2010 then I would have seriously considered this. Considering they released one patch that broke as much as they fixed, will be avoiding this one!

I seem to be one of the few who actually enjoyed F1 2010, but I'm a big F1 fan and aside from the GP4 and rFactor mods, there has not been much in the way of PC F1 titles to pick from for a long time. True, the game had a lot of problems on release but thanks to the modding community I was able to get something that is fun to race (I never play online). TrackIR helps a lot with getting the perfect in-game view too. 2011 is definitely on my buy list.

If people speak with their wallets and not buy the same old crap that devs/publishers bang out every year then they might just change their tune and make games that are worthy of the price tag. For me F12010 was dire in gameplay and graphically.

I enjoyed F1 2010 too, but F1 2011 just looks like an overpriced DLC update (that will receive next to no support).

I don't think it was THAT bad - graphically it looked very good, especially in the rain.

Do AI cars actually compete in qualifying now?

I enjoyed 2010 until my second race - when a ghost car came speeding out of the pit lane, overtook me, solidified and then slammed the brakes on for the corner I was naturally braking late for. Needless to say I got a penalty and wasn't amused.

The developer diaries are doing them no favours at all. Most of what I've heard is precisely what they said of F1 2010 and for them to now say "oh yeah we couldn't quite do that last year but this time we have" doesn't convince me in the slightest that they won't do the same next year.

I enjoyed it :o. It had its flaws but i bought it for like £15 and more than enough entertainment for the money.

For whoever is interested before patching the game:

1: Backup file: Flow.bin (984Kb)

2: Now patch the game & then copy the original Flow.bin back into the game System folder.

3: Now you can use mods again to make the game bearable. You know small things like rules which do not punish you for AI mistakes etc etc

At least it lets you finish all the SP & get some life out of the title as you can use edited xml files with improved rules etc etc
