***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

Personally i couldnt drive with a 360 pad in 2010 with no assists e.t.c. I found it impossible.

I don't know about 2011 as the postman has not delivery my letter post yet today!

Might have to find space for a wheel.

Nothing wrong with that, its the lewis hamilton effect

LOL

Well yes, brake less, and ease the brakes as the speed decreases (at low speed, you get less down force, therefore less load on the tyres therefore easier lock ups). And don't brake and turn, or 'trail' the brakes. Reducing pressure gradually as you enter the turn.

You should soon get a feel of how much braking you can get out of it.

Yeah I get that, but i find with the pad the difference between off and full brakes it like 5mm, i'll keep trying with it. Love it so far.

I'm doing full race weekend this year. No assists apart from medium TC.

I got a puncture, limped backed to the pits to change tyres and came back out with the same puncture..

Nice one Codemasters you idiots

I'm not playing this anymore until it's patched.

how are people finding it with a 360 pad? I keep locking the fronts on every corner. Any tips welcome. **wait for "just brake less"** :)

I'd love to get a wheel but I dont have the room. :(

Don't turn in when braking or brake for too long is about all I can suggest from personal experience. I used ABS in F1 2010 with a X360 pad and for a few hours in this game until I turned it off and realised it was pretty easy to manage. I occasionally see the odd smoke plume every now and then, but nothing severe.

I think I registered my copy of F1 2011 against login details which I dont use for GFWL usually.

Now I am trying to use my proper GFWL login but it says it wont let me because the game is not registered with that GFWL login.

Is there anyway to get this changed? Or do I have to live with this?

There is a major flaw in the physics model, when the car breaks away at the rear to correct a slide it's more effective to hit the brakes when in reality this would be the last thing you'd do. Hitting the brakes would lock up the lightest wheel, in this instance a rear, and make the situation worse by removing even more grip. In addition braking straightens the slide, it corrects the slip angle which is wrong, it should make it worse!

This detracts from the car control, it's rather annoying and counter intuitive.

Why don't they consult real drivers, does it cost too much money?

Probably as most people would say this isn't a racing sim so they will change/remove some aspects of the physics to make the cars more manageable to drive. In an interview I heard before they put it quite well, none of us have ever raced and F1 car where the best of the best of drivers race so we aim to make the experience believable but also drivable.

I've done the same thing. The answer appears to be no. :(

Neat, it tells you these stats?

Hoping my Force EX works as well with this as it does with 2010, otherwise I will end up getting the GT I think.

Yeah it tells you these things. I had an awesome racing session with sparc and omga today was epic around Melbourne. I won since they got time penalties :

Granted so why not just make it a touch easier to catch a slide instead of re-writing the laws of physics? It's just wrong.

I'm also struggling to find a sweet spot with the AI, on professional they're too slow and on legendary they're artificially fast such as the HRT's straightline and corner speed.
