***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

If there are any wheel users who race fast and clean with aids off add me on GFWL

Online is horrible at the moment for me, I'm used to clean respectful competitive racing on Iracing, if I could find a similar level of competition and clean driving for f1 2011 I'd be joyous as I refuse to play single player due to the AI being so crap and having so many issues.

This is true. Why couldnt the detail of 2010 be put into 2011 with the tone and colour of 2011

Going to try 2011 again now i have removed the rapture sound driver. hopefully it wont crash in menus now

i did try 2010, the only thing they have improved is their speed... they are still as dumb and skatty as ever.

they refuse to overtake you unless you make a MASSIVE mistake and go off the track.

in quali and races they brake on the racing line to let you past when they get blue flagged

tyre degredation doesnt effect them, turn fuel sim off and then check their lap times, they put in fastest laps about 12 laps into a stint on options.

they do stupid pit strategies on 20% races

the difficulty level still lacks consistency, melbourne on legend feels good, then you go to malaysia and you blitz them on legend, dont even get me started on monaco... on legend in a sauber i finished 47 seconds ahead of second place (who was bizarrely di resta...) !

they dont drive smoothly how a real driver does, especially not in traffic, they kinda jerk about the place taking unatural lines.

i understand the complexities of F1 make it very hard to program AI but they are no closer to nailing it this year than they were last year and thus single player is worthless.

If I have this game installed from a DVD, can I link or add it to Steam so as I can have it automatically apply updates and patches etc as they are released or is that not possible?

I agree with you on some points, the overtaking does appear to be limited to top tier cars and by that I mean the top end drivers seem more comfortable overtaking you whereas the back end of the field tend to hand off your rear wheel without making a move.

Traffic behaviour is just wrong and 'skatty' as you say, Monaco first corner is a prime example... it's a corner not a T junction!?

I had Barrichello win the first race in the dry... :-/

I'll be honest I haven't checked lap times but if what you say about tyre and fuel sim is true that's a cop out.

I'm not programmer but I can imagine it's not easy trying to 'code' AI in to a game like this, it's quite clear we're still years away from anything truely faithful to it's real-life counterpart.

In retrospect considering the improvements this year this only goes to cement how bloody awful F1 2010 was!

for people using wheels controllers yeah could maybe learn this game with all aids off.

i play using a xbox360 controller and i only have the guide line and automatic gears, which is hard enough. haha.

Picked this up yesterday and played a few quick gp's, first impressions is that it feels better than last year though still a few problems I think.

Firstly the most annoying, I cannot get it to remember I set it to use my g25, everytime I load it it defaults back to kb - Anyone know a fix for this as I can't find one.

3 crashes so far too, one to desktop, one just unresponsive black screen and third time pop up of f12011.exe stopped responding in the middle of a race.

I know it has been commented on here also about the speed of the ai settings, on expert I qualified last 5 seconds off pole, put it on hard set a time 1 tenth quick than on expert but I got pole by 5 tenths! (edit: this is with no aids on)

when you start the game the first button you touch must be on the g25.

never had a crash since playing, obviously crashed the car a few times

I think you'll agree in your case it's different, hats off to you! I hope you don't find that comment condescending, I think it's quite incredible you don't let your disability get in the way of you enjoying games.

im loving it.

At first it took little while to get use to the handling (still is), but it feels a lot better than f1 2010. The rain graphics is awesome, I also like how the tyres change colour when driving on the grass. I've not had the safety car out yet but i think that's a very good idea to have.

tbh i'm leaning DRS / KERS and when to use it

It took me a while to work this out, if your press enter on the keyboard it reverts your controls to keys instead of wheel which is idiotic. My profile has a steering wheel setup saved, why not just load that?! :confused:
