***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

I dunno, I just think the game is way easier this year. The fact you can abuse curbs and the springs are overpowered in how they give you so much responsiveness makes it pretty easy. It's then just a matter of balancing the anti-roll bar and wing settings.

I find the ARB settings are most important for 90' corners where you need the turn-in. Set according to track. If you are understeering, set front wing at least 1 notch higher and consider setting rear wing 1 notch lower as long as the rear isn't sliding and oversteering in fast corners. If the rear is sliding and coming round, you can fix this by adding rear wing, or raising the rear ARB for less responsiveness, or lowering rear springs for less responsiveness.

I'm gutted they didn't put semi-auto gears.

We usually do 10% and multiple tracks, generally which ever one most people agree to.

Don't worry about being bad, aslong as you can handle the first few corners without wrecking peoples races and can move out of the way if blue flagged its no problem.

Ok well added you on gfwl and installed mumble... should be interesting...

I'll be up for some races i'm pretty suck without traction control though.

Is any one having problems dissconecting from races online. I have opened my ports for the game and still having issues any one got any ideas.

The more I play career the more I realise the AI isn't that much better than last year, particularly in practise and qualifying where they do 10mph on the racing line twitching like they're having an epileptic fit, I've yet to see them receive a penalty for sitting on the apex and ruining my lap?

Such a simple thing to spot because it happens every time, do Codemasters not play test or do they have no idea about the real world racing they base their cash cow off?

They'll fix it next year, thanks for your money though.

Grand Prix 4 is still a far better simulation, the only thing these new games have on it is a modern 3D graphics engine.
lol, no. GP4 wasn't that brilliant. To me it felt a bit like it was on rails. rFactor/iRacing are way better.

So is this worth buying, or is it just as bad as 2010?

I've uninstalled it now, Codemasters are nothing but a bunch of serial liars & con artists, and its an absolute disgrace that they're able to get away with releasing half-arsed games with shocking coding, and the customer is shafted and unlike with any other product, left completely helpless with no rights to get the product they've been promised. They'll do a lazy patch which will fix nothing and make other aspects worse, and then they'll disappear, ignore problems, and come March they'll reappear talking about F1 2012 and how its wonderful and how the last game wasnt quite what they hoped...

The AI is an absolute disgrace, when they're being lapped they swerve undecidedly on & off the racing line, and when your racing them for position they just ram into the back of you like your not there. I've been pushed around corners sideways twice around Turkey, and just now around Catalunia, and rammed into the back of every lap they were close enough to going around Turn 7 around Turkey (The 4-apex left hander which i take flat). Vettel seemed quite content hitting the back of me, without me weaving or attempting to block him to stop him passing, just by sensible late braking and not leaving doors open, and he'd do this 1/3 distance into a race for 4 laps after i'd pitted onto Primes (Yellow) which he'd started on, and despite having a lead sufficient enough to do a pit and come out ahead of him on fresh rubber, he was still flying and happy to hit me, about 2-3 times per lap when i was close enough for him to hit me.

Im sick of being rammed off the track and/or spun, and having backmarkers weave all over the place and either resulting in me getting damage (sometimes a penalty) or taking avoiding action and getting warnings and even penalties for cutting the track (one time being warned while on the outside of a corner). They're untouchable, beyond the rules, and dont appear to be restricted the same way we are (They sound like they have TC available exiting corners) and there seems to be suggestions they dont get tyre wear either, but thats probably more down to the TC they seem to have resulting in less wear.

They make me want to put baby mode on, and just wreck the whole sodding field, cos for 'expert' they certainly dont drive like it! They're dog slow, completely blind, and never seem to get damage while shunting you or penalised for doing so.

Well for no apparent reason at all my F1 2011 now crashes when loading at the local storage check (hit enter screen).

Any ideas?

The same just happened to me :(

Deleted the saved game content and it loads ok. Not to bothered since I hadnt started career but its a good idea to backup your files. Another inherited bug from last years game.

Ok so Im doing some hotlapping at Monza at, my times around mid 1.20s.
I cant seem to figure how to take the first chicane, as soon as I straight my car out and press the accelerator I either wheel spin too much and spin the car or the car just seems so sluggish taking off.

Could it possibly be something to do with my throttle pedal map?

Seem to have a real deadspot with my g25, 10-2 is pretty much the area effected, and thats using the default g25 in game settings and pretty much default windows settings, with 300deg turn.

I turned down 1 setting in game which was to reduce twitchyness in straights, it was defaulted to 10 so took it down to 0 and it did improve a bit but as i say still a massive deadzone of 10-2(like a clock)

What are people using settings wise on a g25?

Had my first game online last night. I got to 1st then it just disconnected and said something like 'lost connection to server' really stable

Good job I wasnt doing a full grand prix or loads of laps

Hello bud, what do you mean by deadzone exactly?
(I have a G25 so will look at this later tonight).

Agree about the AI. Last night I was rammed off the track three times by Button X 2 and Webber. The force was so hard the cars should have been a write off. The AI just rams you out the way. The AI didn't receive any penalties yet I was given a 20 second penalty because my car happened to come to a stop in the way of another car. It made me rage so bad because the AI can basically cheat.

You need a wheel or analogue joystick to turn off the steering assists, Gp4 is great then much better than these Codemasters efforts anyway.

It's a crime that F1 2010/2011 are so popular given the state they were both released in (rushed!).
