***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

CM has had this problem over most of their racers, they will deal with it the same way they done the rest... By ignoring everyone on their forums that moan about it ;)

Sorry mate, im in the same boat as you though :)

3 things, left on the list.

1.First go to steamapps > F1 2011 right click the f1 exe send to desktop. Launch as admin from desktop. *Do not launch using steam.*

2.Delete games for windows from steamapps folder/uninstall it.

3. game to mygames in my documents delete your save game folder.

launch game should work.

Ok just dug out the G25, whacked latest drivers on there and decided to load up F1 2011.

Initial thoughts, love it with the G25, but I have to ask (and yes this shows how much I am using the G25!).

The feedback on the wheel is more of a hammering noise (if that makes any sense). And I find I have to turn the feedback down to 10 or 20% in order to minmise this "hammering" effect.

Is this what the feedback is supposed to be like? (I assumed it would be a kind of smooth force when cornering etc and then perhaps when you go off track into a gravel trap, then you'd get jittering/hammering type feedback.

I hope that made sense :confoozed: :p

Very annoyed with the performance issues from this game. In F1 2010 I got a solid 60-80fps but now i get 30-40 from 2011.

i7 920 @ 3.6Ghz
6GB RAM

disabling crossfire does very little. Crossfire profile for 2011 is in the works but until then I'm not even going to bother playing. Same thing happened to Starcraft 2, my friend with a single 4850 was getting more FPS than me, eventually Blizzard said they don't support crossfire of SLi.

Might as well migrate to console gaming with all the issues and problems originating from PC gaming as of late.

Blizzard? It's a Codemasters game.

I think it has to do with the 'wheel centring spring' setting in windows g25 profile (if i'm getting you right). I had to turn it down to 75%.

Control panel/devices and printers, right click on g25 wheel, and select game controller settings then/properties tab/settings tab.

Also try in DX9 mode instead of DX11.

I am running DX 9 mode now and it hasnt crashes (yet) Will test a bit more tonight.

What does DX11 mode add? It looks exactly the same in DX9 mode and gets about the same fps

Blizzard? It's a Codemasters game.

I was using SC2 as another example of poor compatibility. My friends Phenom II with a single 4850 outperformed my i7 and 4870x2 by a significant margin. After many emails and forum posts to Blizzard they just said "We don't support crossfire/SLi" and left it at that.

Thanks fiNker. Do you get me when I talk about this "hammer" type effect? Does this wheel centring spring setting sort it?

My G27 also does this, I'm pretty sure it's intentional as all the latest Codemaster games seem to do it. I think turning down environmental effects helps it be a little less juddery :p

Ah phew. Thought it was a developing defect with my wheel or something :)

So you're all saying that you've experienced a similar effect with your G25s/G27s?

Also do you leave feedback on in this game? I mean I know its supposed to give you "feedback" translated into the wheel to ascertain how much more you can turn without overcooking etc, but in another sense its a bit of hinderance if you want to extract the maximum from your laps?

On another note, I never played 2010 with the wheel. This time I set my G25 (with Wheelstand Pro) infront of my 37" Sammy (hooked via HDMI to my PC) and the difference between that (with all aids turned off) and playing it on keyboard on a 24" monitor with aids on, is like night and day.

Absolutely love it :) Find myself laughing when I overcook a corner.

Yep, I get the same effect on my wheel as some of you might of heard lat night mumble. It sounds horrible, but I'm pretty sure its by design and it is something that the wheel should be able to take fairly easily.

I'm used to it now so it doesn't mess up my lap times too much but if it's bothering you I would suggest turning the FFB down slightly and lower the environmental effects. This made it slightly more playable at night without keeping the whole neighborhood awake :D

I can't get over how good the braking zone is on Suzuka compared to 2010. It's great you can now brake well past the 150 meter board for the little right/left chicane to the finish.

Yeah you can brake later for some turns now, Bus Stop at Spa is 100m now too but braking is still largely a non event. You might lock up the fronts every so often but the car never becomes unstable and loose at the rear.

If you grab radeon pro and force the dirt 2 profile with AFR active it should work well.

Thanks for this. My FPS is greatly improved in full screen now.

Just to summarise:

- Install Radeon Pro
- Select F1 2011 executable
- Go to 'Tweaks' tab and select 'DIRT 2' in the 'Force CrossFireX Profile' box
- For MVPUMode I choose Alternate Frame Rendering (so Crossfire is not disabled). If it still causes problems you can change the slider to disable Crossfire completely.

Left everything else on default. In the CCC, Catalyst AI and 'Optimise Surface Format' were fully enabled.

My average FPS in the benchmark is now 77 up from about 15 or so before. Running 5970 on 2560x1440 with everything turned up to max and 4xAA.

Just managed 4th in Montreal in the wet with Force India....the AI seems to lack overtaking skills.

I was by no means the fastest, I was just the first to move from slicks to inters, and ended up with most of the pack behind me. Hamilton, Alonso and Webber passed me, but I easily kept everyone else behind me, despite having a slower car.

This is playing on professional difficulty too, with TC and ABS off

Thanks but I tried that last night with no improvement.

Just been doing a few benchmark runs with different settings. DX11 and DX9 look absolutely identical to me and using DX9 I gain 7 FPS. Post processing does nothing as far as I can tell, can someone tell me what this is for in game. It doesn't add bloom or any other noticeable effect that I can see.

Anyone know what frames i can expect on my new Qosimo 770-107 (GTX560M) laptop?? (currently running F1 2010 on @1920~1080, with setting on high, shadows medium, and no AA. Getting about 57 frames in bench mark, 40 in game (race). Is this MUCH more taxing on GFX than 2010 edition

thanks

Ant

No, its quite a bit less. Colours are better but detail is cut down. (check my screenshots a few pages back) I gained about 10fps in 2011 with same settings as 2010
