***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

Not sure if anyone has experienced the same issue but why are the AI controlled cars so much faster on cold tyres? I have to really take it easy with "blue" tyres or I spin, which is correct as they take a lap or 2 to get up to temperature. I was side by side with a car coming out of the pits who was able to take all corners flat out and I lost 2-3 seconds on the first few corners alone in China.

I'm playing on the Xbox but this shouldn't make a difference.

well if you turn the wheel anywhere between 10o'clock and 2o'clock the in game wheel doesnt turn.

So to make a little correction you have to turn a lot.

Blimey so your saying if you turn the wheel up to the 10 or 2 position, the game wheel doesnt turn?
Thats quite a lot of deadzone!

The same just happened to me :(

Deleted the saved game content and it loads ok. Not to bothered since I hadnt started career but its a good idea to backup your files. Another inherited bug from last years game.

Appears to be rather common, some people seem to think it happens after an R&D session and recommend advancing to the next session.

Can't say I recall doing an R&D before mine corrupt.

This game really doesn't feel finished to me, too many issues just like last year, I said Codemaster wouldn't be able to do it and I was right.

I got to be honest I did not expect F1 2011 to have as many problems as F1 2010 (if not more !) had on release. I was expecting this version to be a 'finished' F1 2010, a v2.0, if you will. But, it seems we have some of the same problems again lol.

There is no debating that parts of the game do feel more polished and therefore have a 'finished' feel in comparison to F1 2010, but to have all these bugs again, it makes me conclude that we have a problem with with one if not both of the following:

1.) The Ego engine is just not capable of the degree of logic that an F1 game needs, and therefore until a new engine with an F1 focus is designed, we are always going to have problems with an F1 implementation running on Ego.

AND, OR

2.) Codemasters do not have the required programmers suitable for the coding that an F1 game requires.

No arguing that the graphics/modelling department at Codemasters Birmingham are very good, it's the AI, Scripting, Logic + playtesting team that need a good shake up imo.

Still a great game mind, as long as you don't actually try to be an F1 driver, and just enjoy an arcade experience, with lots of humorous moments :)

Can't wait for F1 2012 :)

Another thing of note for any of you guys struggling on anything less than a quad core.

The game is extremely cpu bound, in the main because it's pretty much a direct port from console over to PC, the GPU hardly gets hooked up with the game.

Shadows and Car Reflections are very highly CPU bound, if you have any performance issues on a dual core, just try lowering down the reflections and shadows options to give somewhere in the region of 10-15fps boost.

My guess is the game is coded direct for 360 as lead platform, then has been ported, badly, over to both PS3 and PC.

We that explains my almost 100% cpu usage!

Hmmm, might be time to finally i7! :D

Patch will have been created before all the bugs reported, youre going to have to wait for the second patch to get any new issues fixed. Saying that some of the fixes may fix the issues people have discovered.

Or they could employ the services of Geoff Crammond, who could show them how to code an F1 game, if he could do it all those years ago..... ;)

Only reason i7's run it well, is because they can brute force their way through the crap ported code so quickly :)

Makes me wonder if coders are employed by the hardware companies to badly code and optimise games, so that we need the latest hardware to hide the inefficiencies.

And of course, yes, I am jealous of all you guys who can afford the latest hardware ! but really should we need to keep upgrading because of the crappy ports we keep getting ?

My specs run the game fine @ 1080p (without the crossfire part) just don't max out the setting, medium is fine for me and i am gettting 50+ fps.

You don't have to buy new hardware all the time, only thing brought new was gfx card (late 2009) and my ram which is about a month old

I run it on Ultra, 2xAA at 2048x with no issues.

I only have a 5850 (stock) and Phenom tri-core at 3.5GHz.

Strange. My GTX 570 goes to 100% usage during the game and the fans kick in big time

I have a [email protected] cpu. Not sure if that makes any difference

Also - When I set no aa or 8xAA I get the same FPS. (running 2048 x 1440 res)

I think im GPU bound rather than CPU and almost certain if I tried it with my 5770 it would be dire compared to GTX 570

Second patch? Off CM? You'll be lucky. Having read quite a lot of the comments in this thread I'm glad I kept my money in my pocket this year.
