And many more bugs. But there again if your not a true F1 racing fan you won't mind :)

Think that's a bit garbage to be honest. F1 is my favourite sport, I went to Silverstone this year, I watch every FP, Quali and Race. I'm a true fan, but I don't have any issues with the game. It's enjoyable, and the most faithful attempt at recreating the sport in virtual form yet (yes, even more so than GP4).

The game was never billed as a full-on sim, so the average Joe has no idea of any of these "bugs" and enjoys it for what it is.

I know what I'm looking at when it comes to F1, and can honestly say that even before the first patches came out I never had a single issue or game-ruining experience. It was just fun to drive today's F1 cars.

Looks like you're easily pleased when it comes to F1 games.. code masters faithful :)
So you started on the right side of the track at Brazil when you got pole?

But seriously just go to the F1 2010 CM forum and they are still asking for major updates.

sounds like you haven't played other f1 games

This is my problem - they were quick enough to interact with us when they wanted our money (the community manager even came here to sell it to us), but once they had it they all disappeared

Patch "1.1" broke as much as it solved. Really frustrating because I was so keen to support a revival of F1 PC games.

If this turns out to be good, I will get it. If not, will wait til it is on sale for a fiver.

None of that constitutes a broken unplayable game, buggy and annoying maybe, but not unplayable.

If those 4 things rendered the game absolutely unplayable to you then you must have exceptionally high gaming standards. I don't remember the last time I played a game that didn't have similar annoying bugs, it's just what gaming has become these days.

You are right, it is an officially licensed F1 game, you would think that certain gameplay elements would be a lock in... guess again.

Well then maybe you should have read up a bit and not just assumed and bought it anyway.

Assumption is the mother of all **** ups.

e British TOCA licence for ages and did nothing with that too.

i remember the original toca games for the playstation they had commentary , qualifying sessions etc...

codemasters have dumbed down all the racing games they make to silly levels compared to how authentic they tried to be in the past

I was silly to assume I would be doing qualifying laps against other drivers, that is what they do in F1?

Honestly, they messed up and you cannot blame me being silly for not expecting them to **** up something so simple as qualification in an F1 game, all out sim or arcade title.

F1 2010 wasn't all bad but rfactor plus FSONE2009 is infinatley better and it's a free community made mod for a very old game.

I'm buying F1 2011 because I'm a huge fan of the sport and can't resist any F1 game so I guess CM have already hooked a lot of people into buying despite last years mixed effort.

It does look like a genuine improvement but I'm not convinced untill I can judge for myself. CM were saying all the right things pre release last year about features which turned out to be non existant or pitifully lacking in the full game.

F1 2010 was almost unplayable on release with AI cars not pit stopping and being held in the pits while all other cars went by - luckily they fixed these problems.

That broke the game for me. Was doing a 100% race season and gave up after Australia. It was the second session of qualifying, had crossed the start/finish line with a few seconds to spare. Just had time for one more lap and I was sitting 10th. The car in front of me on track was 2 lengths ahead, managed to overtake it on the lap, when I crossed the line hadnt improved my time but was 10th, no other car could beat me. Well apart from the one I overtook, that managed to go quarter of a second faster than me.

Got F1 2010 late, probably after the major bugs were sorted out, really enjoyed playing it and there is no other alternative that is quite as good, definitely getting this.

My thoughts exactly.

To some people though, they do not even notice this error.

What was far worse was the pit lane bug. Come into the pits first and leave last, in a 100% season you just couldn't put up with that.

Add the fact that cars come out of the pit lane as ghosts and zoom past you the races really did become a joke.

But hey at least they fixed the puncture bug in the patch ;)

Yep, the pit lane bug was annoying. The random tyre punctures on almost every lap were even more annoying - no idea how these slipped past testing! At least these were fixed in the only patch we ever got.

Hopefully they switch to Steamworks in future. I am not a fan of GFWL, but at least it gives them extra funding which I hope they put to good use and don't just pocket.

Sigh. I want to buy this but I bought F1 2010 and feel let down. It's basically a time limited game if your aim is multiplayer - you will get a year out of it before its made obselete by the new version which fixes all the problems with the old version that they couldn't be bothered to patch but...

.... is still sold at full price. If we all buy it then we just encourage them to beleive that this is the way forward. Why put effort into fixing and patching a product if everyone who owns that product will, if asked, simply pay another £30 for the new version anyway?

What happened to expansion packs? Why isn't this 'F1 2010 the new season' addon for 15 quid or something?

Apparently there is a long list of new features that make it more than just a season update. I am waiting for reviews and user feedback on it. Might wait until it is £15 anyway :) - probably after a couple of months.
