***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

I didn't mind F1 2010 in general, there were glaring issues but it was playable, until it corrupted my save game after quite a few hours of playing (and then I found out that was a known issue with the engine, which was irritating to say the least)

But the fact that they denied any bugs, then eventually after dragging their feet released a patch that half-fixed some issues and created some new ones. And then they went on and effectively said "that's as good as you're getting, wait for F1 2011 for anymore".

Well sod them, *If* I buy F1 2011 it will be for sub £10, and preferably second hand so they don't see a penny of it. And frankly after the way they treat people paying nigh on £30 for a game (I paid £27.99 as a pre-order on steam iirc) that's more than they deserve to get from me...

Do AI cars actually compete in qualifying now?

Better yet, are they actually on the track during races this year? It was rather ridiculous how they drove 3 second faster laps when they were outside of your view, compared to when they were within viewing distance of you. Also the AI needs to be A LOT faster. I gave up on the game pretty much after my first race. I won the Bahrain GP on hardest AI, with the slowest car.

I only played '10 on xbox and despite some issues it was very playable imo. I did hear horror stories about the pc version though. However I've replaced the xbox with a gaming pc and I have to get F1 2011, can't resist playing Formula One games.

I played rFactor for the first time last week and the FSONE2009 mod is extremely good, blows CodeMasters 2010 effort right out of the water in every way.

Jesus, people sure like to moan a lot. There are no games which are perfect. F1 2010 had it's issues but it's very playable and F1 2011 promises to build on it.

For those interested there are quite a few videos from Gamescom being posted on the official Codemasters forum.

I have conflicting feelings about the safety car being introduced. I can understand from a realism point of view that having it there would be great and adds an extra element to strategy. However, I also feel that it will be tedious and game breaking if they get it wrong. At least the option to turn it on/off is there if need be.

I'll be holding back until Merlin5 lets us all know what it's like :p

Safety cars is a feature that sounds cool until you actually play a game that has them. You'll soon learn to hate the damn things. Driving behind a safety car is really boring.

I'll keep and eye on this but I doubt I'll get it after the mess that was 2010. The entire thing stank of being rushed.

i have it on preorder from shopto, i just hope to god they have fixed the flaws of last years game and if there are any bugs found upon release then they have the decency to fix them this time

i wont be buying this, my dirt 3 still crashes on menu screens, same for loads of others as well, wouldnt be surprised if this is the same.

Then expect codemasters to drop support for f1 2011 after one or two patches.

Im still peeved at them for turning off the grid servers.

Agreed - the mods will merge it into this one anyway.

It worries me how little they are telling us about this game, apart from the obvious DRS/KERS/safety car type stuff. Will be waiting for user reviews before I pick it up. Won't get burnt by Codies again.
