***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

Agreed - the mods will merge it into this one anyway.

It worries me how little they are telling us about this game, apart from the obvious DRS/KERS/safety car type stuff. Will be waiting for user reviews before I pick it up. Won't get burnt by Codies again.

it will be basicly the same game with small updates in the past these were sold as expansions for like £15 ;)

+1 to that ^^

The drivers are so careful off the start line these days. I miss the time when they had a load of spare cars, piles of tobacco money and would just dive into the first corner.

Does remind me of MP though :p

There was only one spare car per team so 4 drivers didn't take the restart. To be fair I don't think anyone expected DC to lose it on a straight and come back across the track :p

On-topic, has there been any word about the online features?

It worries me how close we are to release, yet how few details or videos they have released. This time last year we had lots of footage and info on the game. Starting to wonder about this one.

Pre order up on steam :D

cant wait for this. From what ive seen in the videos its looking much more complete. This is what F1 2010 should have been. Steam says i played F1 2010 for 135 hours!

Jesus, people sure like to moan a lot. There are no games which are perfect. F1 2010 had it's issues but it's very playable and F1 2011 promises to build on it.

I do not expect a game to be PERFECT.

HOWEVER, when paying my £25 I do not expect a game to be positively missing features and BROKEN which F1 2010 blatantly was.

Then to release a "patch" which does **** all other than break other stuff then be told "Hey, were focusing on 2011 now" I have a right to moan, A LOT.

Codemasters can swivel on my **** if they think I am bending over to let them **** me up the *** again.

Codemasters are a "release and done" company, once they have your money, they do not give a ****.

This ios my concern. I am going to wait until F1 2011 is on sale on Steam I think - I believe F1 2010 was half price during the christmas sale on there, so will wait for that. Still having lots of fun with F1 2010 anyway - even if there are still some annoying bugs.

Quite surprised at the amount of hate towards 2010 and Codies, I thought it was fantastic but I played it on the 360 when it came out. Only just got back into PC gaming and will get 2011 on that, but been messing with 2010 on PC for the last couple of weeks with the latest patches, and haven't had any issues.

I know there were a few ****-ups in the launch code, but from memory they were fixed pretty quickly, at least on consoles.

The implementation of DRS, KERS and the safety car rules look great.

The trouble is, a lot of people had hardly any issues at all. It was perfectly playable and very enjoyable for me. There were a few niggles here and there but nothing even remotely near possibly maybe making the game 'broken'.

It obviously affected different people with different severity but I don't think the game was really broken that badly for the majority of people.

As for missing features, that's your own lookout, the features of the game are easily available to see well before you hand over your money, so if the game didn't have features you wanted then you shouldn't have bought it.

The "active track" and puddles had to be fixed manually for me - took my 6990 to run it smoothly too with allthis enabled. Still have the sector 3 times bugged out making it difficult to compare to other drivers lap times.

The more of you that get this the more tempted I will be. Will be away for the first week of release, so will give me a good chance to look at all of your feedback.

The handling and AI look much better in this release - would really like to know more about the career mode though. Visuals look better too, although not sure how that was possible.

"The trouble is, a lot of people had hardly any issues at all" sorry but what planet do you live on?
You did notice that on one track if you got pole you started on the wrong side?
You did notice that if it rained in qualifying you just went out on SS and got pole?

Did you notice that if another driver took you off at a corner you was given 10-20sec penalty for CUTTING THE CORNER?
Also the pit lane speed limit for some tracks was WRONG.

And many more bugs. But there again if your not a true F1 racing fan you won't mind :)

I demand a demo before even considering to buy another CM F1 title. Without one my money is going down some cheap girls stocking. Its just a better way to spend my money.

You are right, it is an officially licensed F1 game, you would think that certain gameplay elements would be a lock in... guess again.

Deuse sums it up. Those are bugs, not "features".

If you think these issues only affected a few, you are mistaken.

The game is flawed as an F1 title.

Sure, if you do not look at in any depth, you may not notice the issues but you do not have to look far.

It does not even get the fundamentals right which for a licensed title is unforgiveable.

Also, they insist on shoving GFWL down our throats because of their greedy contract with MS.

The majority of PC players said "This sucks", what do they do... give us the finger and shrug their shoulders.

British or not, I would be happy if Codies shut up shop as they are just embarrasing.

They have the Sensible Soccer licence and do naff all with it and had the British TOCA licence for ages and did nothing with that too.

I read a post from someone recently (Cant remember where) saying many artists create one masterpiece then spend the rest of their lives trying to recreate it and fail.

Codemasters and Team17 are prime examples.
