***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

What was the reason the car turned into a ghost at the start of Brazil? for a second there I thought collisions was off... I was still a ghost and reappearing through the Senna S.

Tsk tsk, Murray. Twice you took me out. First my car went shooting off at turn 6 into the grass. The last move was the worst when you spun me out sliding into the wall at turn 7. You just barged through me even though you drove around with no front wing. Then all these other lame players joined in on Sepang and started derby central. I got taken out more times than I could remember, more so by smokernumber name.

How are people joining if the room is private? it said private in the lobby.

It just proves a certain amount of players all in causes connection lost. Not good if the league was to go ahead.

I have had ghost cars appearing a lot lately off the start, usually when people get off the line slowly - was it because collisions were off?

Should have had a private session - we didn't have a single good random person in there :(. I got hugely taken out at Budapest, then 4 pit stop bugs in a row (first one not changing my tyres at all, the next 3 times putting options on when I had selected primes)

The connections are definitely a problem too, I noticed quite a few of you were disconnecting :( - can only imagine how annoying that would be in a league race at 50%! I reckon just stick with our current race format.

Not sure if I will be on tonight.

Thats stupid then.

Oh it was. Sadly most of it was ruined by smoker, more so at Canada. He just rammed his way into the first corner. Then he spun me out. That became worse at Sepang. I saw he kept turning into you trying to spin you out.

However, I'd love to see all assists forced off and in cockpit view just to see what it's like for others. :)

I play without using any assists mate however i do use T-cam, after reading you post i tried cockpit view for the first time and i must admit its a lot more fun compare to T-cam. The only problem is i will have to learn every single track again with the cockpit view, i don't know if i have time to start all over again and learn every single track again. I have tried couple of tracks last night with cockpit view and i am around about couple of seconds slower compare to my time in T-cam view which i think is not too bad for the first time.

I will try to learn Brazil and Japan with the cockpit view and we will have a race there next weekend all assists ban with cockpit view.

However i don't think its disadvantage for the person who is uses cockpit all the time againist some one who is uses T-cam. I have seen really good drivers who use cockpit view and beat people easily who are using T-cam, lets take Mr Fantastic for example.

As far as your connections issues i don't know about them, we been having races in private lobbies with the lads from this forum with not many issues.

There we go mate, you have advantage over my crappy Logitech DFGT pedals to start with. We can't have level playing field no matter what we do :p

By the way i am up for Brazil and Japan 20% races over the weekend with all the assists ban with cockpit view.

Even more of an advantage over my crappy Logitech Force EX - no wonder you guys can play with TC assist off!

I was racing with all assists off and cockpit view those races! :D

Murray how did you find out cockpit view? i have been using cockpit view for last couple of days and i must admit its great fun but at the same time a lot more challenging as well.

Codemasters just released new information about the upcoming patch 2:

Hi all,

As promised last week, here is some more information on the specific issues we’ve been investigating for the upcoming patch and the progress made to date.

For those of you who have read the Patch Process thread , Step 1 has now been completed; many thanks to all of you who provided as much information as possible on the issues you have encountered. We are now nearing the end of Step 2, with multiple issues (detailed below) having now been fixed and verified in our test environment.

Please note that there are technical restrictions on what we can and can’t patch, due to things such as size limits on patches, knock-on effects to other areas of the game and issues that were non-reproducible in our test environment, etc. Issues which currently fall into this category are updated DRS Zones and updated drivers.

 Game Improvements:
o A connectivity rating display has now been implemented for each player in an online session lobby. This appears as coloured bars (red, amber, green) to indicate the expected online performance of the player in the game session.
o More network bandwidth is now reserved for game-critical systems in online sessions. This may result in low-bandwidth users having their voice chat restricted to fewer players, but should result in a smoother online experience.

 Strategy & Setup:
o Fixed 11/11 car setup bug.
o Fixed issue where your race strategy uses the same tyre compound three times in a row & the final set are worn.
o Fixed issue where wear-based punctures would occur too often.
o Fixed various issues with the race engineer speech logic.

 AI:
o Fixed an issue where the AI run on Intermediates for too long.
o Fixed issue where AI cars would be too fast in the wet.
o Fixed an issue where AI vehicles pitted too often during dry, online races .
o The AI has been tuned on several circuits to provide smoother and faster driving.

 Co –op Championship:
o Fixed an issue with the save becoming corrupt / not able to invite the other player when playing long race weekends.
o Fixed an issue where AI difficulty was reset to “Amateur” level when resuming a Coop game.
o Fixed an issue with tyre wear in Practice/Qualifying not being carried over to Race.
o Fixed an issue with the penalties accrued in Practice/Qualifying not being applied to the Race.
o Fixed an issue with the Race Results where lapped AI are causing player to drop positions.

 Online:
o Vote to Skip in Qualifying now requires 100% vote.
o Various Penalty system improvements have been made.
o Quick Race countdown timer is now set to 60 Seconds and no longer resets when a player joins the session.

 Graphics & Performance:
o PS3 – Improved frame rate & performance.
o Xbox360 & PC - Numerous performance improvements have been made to increase frame rate and reduce stuttering.
o All Platforms – Numerous graphical improvements have been made.
o All Platforms – Fixed various issues to improve general game stability.

 PC-specific:
o Fixed several functionality issues experienced when using DX11 cards.
o Fixed issue where users could hack specific files to increase car grip.

 Other:
o Fixed a very infrequent issue where some sessions would be skipped over when progressing to the next session during a Long Race Weekend.
o Korea tyre compounds have been changed to those used in the 2011 race.
o Fixed an issue where in career where the "on the bounce" achievement was awarded after 11 race wins instead of 9.
o Fixed an issue where all users would be awarded the fastest lap XP and stat during some online races.
o Fixed an issue where driver's hands & head popped in a few frames late when switching cameras.

We have yet to verify several other fixes at the moment, and we are still working hard on fixing a few more issues before we move into Step 3 next week. We will keep you informed on the specifics over the course of the next week or so.

As a final note, we are also working with Sony and Microsoft to wipe the Time Trial leader boards to ensure that all future Time Trial data is correct and free from inaccuracies following the release of patch 2.

Thanks again for your patience whilst we finalise work on the patch.

LOL

The joys of consoles.

GT5 spec 2.0 was over 1GB. That's not counting all the other 200/300/600MB the past year. Seems only one platform suffers size limits while the others suffer because of it. Since Codemasters favour the Xbox.

Another classic.

@MikeRhodes1992 No, we won't add any features with the patch. That's a big task. Fixing sometimes improves things

Some good fixes there though, inam! More so online. I've also had 6 corrupt saves so far.

VF above fix might help you with your connection problems.

I'm shocked! Looks like they've really gone to town on patch 2. Even more unbelievable is they're going to wipe the TT leader boards!
