***Official Formula One 2012 Thread***

Mine is fine at 1080 120hz. I think O.o

At least it says that in the options and it feels fluid, you can often tell when you go back down to 60hz :p

o.O

Are you on ATI/AMD Cards?

There's other people with this same problem, I think it's only for NVIDIA people.

More thoughts:

- the handling is much more challenging, but also much more rewarding now...a bit of a pain though as I am having to learn the tracks all over again
- the force feedback is much improved
- the AI scrap it out a lot more with each other and it is very clear now when they are using a particular fuel strategy
- speaking of fuel strategy, it is great to be able to choose that for a race now
- legendary AI is much tougher than it used to be, although still pretty useless in the wet
- speaking of the wet, it is the one area of the game that looks absolutely stunning...otherwise the graphics have been slightly improved. The engine seems to have been optimised a lot more

Overall I am enjoying it. Not got too much to complain about at the moment. I have the bug where smoke is coming out of my car even with a brand new engine, but other than that all is well :)

And finally...thank goodness they got rid of GFWL. Clunky piece of junk :p

The engine smoke is due to downshifting too fast, I believe they have made it so you have to slow down you downshifts and not rely on engine breaking as much. This can also be messed up by changing you gearing ratios with custom setups I think.

I'm on a ATI 5870.

It could well be my custom setup then. Glad they did take steps to deal with that, it used to bug me when people would do it in races.

Excellent game, vast improvement over the last two games...

AI seems more aware of you this time around, challanging enough on the harder settings, fuel sim seems to work better this time around.

Graphically its very nice looking. some low res textures which I'm not too fussed about as game runs smooth and looks really nice.

Menus are a huge improvement, no more of this 'go complete' or 'be the driver' rubbish. Its now slick and easy to use.

Still no podium, still no option to view other drivers on track like back in the days of GP4.

Engine notes sound excellent, race engineer still annoying though.

But overall, finally codemasters have given a half decent F1 game, and agreed with the x1000 for steam support. Its much better, pleased I got this for the PC instead of consoles...

Purchased F2011 for PS3 last year, sold it to buy the PC version as F1 2011 was junk on the PS3, I wonder how well F1 2012 is being reviewed this year for PS3, however for PC - worthwhile purchase if you like half sim, arcade F1 racing games..

Anyone got any tips for S3 in Melbourne? I've got Di Resta matched in S1 and S2, but in S3 I'm losing .4s to him and I don't seem to be able to do any better than that. Feels like I'm losing a lot of time in T13 and T14. :/

Anyone got some decent settings for the G27? Mine keeps snapping to either the right or left and just staying there. Or in a straight line it will suddenly stiffen and snap a little to the left or right. Very odd.

Any ideas?

What wheel would be recommended for this game with a max budget of £100. I have looked at the Thrustmaster F430 and logitech GT but have no idea which is best or if any good as there seems a lot of mixed reviews.

What do I win for this? :p

This problem is caused by too much FPS , limit your frame rate to 80 via msi after burner or by turning v-sync on.

They didn't go the distance on dry tires did they ?

The first one that I knew had pitted was on lap 3, by which point I'd got over a minute advantage and had lapped the six new cars already. I didn't bother finishing the race. :p

Something must have gone quite badly wrong somewhere, because even my race strategy was set to use dry tyres to begin with. Only had the issue once though, fortunately.

Got my copy of F1 2012 today and i have a Thrustmaster F430, WORKS FANTASTIC, brilliant wheel, great force feedback, seriously you wouldn't regret getting this wheel and I highly recommend it. Can't comment on the logitech as i've never tried one.;)

Logitech GT is brilliant.
