I played it yesterday on Xbox, the car is way too twitchy at any speed but I guess that would be fixed by using wheel and it doesn't seem like much of an improvement.
its codemasters so it will probably get more dumbed down with each release like there other games

F1 2012 on the gamepad... Fantastic! A real improvement!
F1 2012 on Mad Catz steering wheel... Disaster! Significant step backwards.
Hopefully my steering wheel experience will improve as I play with the settings (it worked fine out of the box on '11!). The understeer in slow corners is insane! I am failing to get round corners and running straight into barriers at Adu Dhabi at only 60mph!
I hear that the game is straight up faster and easier with a pad than with a wheel.
This is not right!

Really the game breaker for me right now is the brakes, and how they now have this scripted, and or this handicap written into them if you use them a certain way that just ruins the dynamics in how the car transfers from braking to turn in, to mid point. To bad they didn't allow for some brake adjustment in the setup menu that maybe would eliminate this after adjusting it.
Then there is a twitch in the thing on low speed, and high speed where the back end starts to act like it's going to give you something like trailing throttle or off braking oversteer and you start to point the car where you want it but it corrects its self midstream then it messes up the front tires, and line the car was already on changing the point at where the car was actually at. Almost like it hopped up in the air then sat back down on the track 12 inches farther away from the apex pointed in a different trajectory.
Now why does it seem like when you use the KERS it speeds the car up but then just as you release it feels like it drops 2 MPH ? Something seems off here.
And driving without TC is like no problem now just smash the pedal down.
I'll keep playing around with it up to release date but I don't know man because if the game is anything like this even with adjustments to the setup I think I will pass on it.
the wheel this year feels like it to a step back. there is an unatural left right sway in a straight line. it seems there is almost a steering lag at first then a major compensation as the car goes into a major oversteer. the controls just seem "floaty" as if the car is driving on ice. or maybe codies nailed it, Schumacher said that the tires this year felt like driving on eggs thats kinda what it feels like with a wheel this year. Also the FFB is not good at all. seems like codies took a step backwards this year on the physics. at least the menu screens are pretty.
Yah it's a disaster with the wheel too you have to dial in some deadzone I'm use to drivng with out deadzone and it's all over.
It's like the intial saturation is too much then it smooths out.
I'll keep playing with it to see if I can get it any better but it wil probably take programing the wheel, and the game 2 diffrent ways to get it just right.
I mustve downloaded a different demo to most people because the graphics havent improved at all. ps3 and xbox seem pretty much the same to me yet theyre no better than the ps3 version of 2011.
The handling is terrible. those who say its "realistic" well ive never seen a driver lose it in a straight line because his steering is so sensitive, neither have i seen drivers spinning when they go over kerbs in the dry!
I tried with my wheel and as soon as i had control i veered off into the wall, way over sensitive. and the FF seems poor compared to last years.
Its good that gravel slows you down but why must it always spin you?
To the mod who claimed they are "listening" to us regarding the penalties, ive been given penalties for being hit by the AI, and "causing a collision" pens for slightly nudging the car in front despite no effect to the car i hit. these things have been complained about since 2010 and no change, so no i dont think you do listen to us.
if these are happening on reduced rules and you say the full rules are far stricter i dread to think how bad they will be.
Oh ive worked out why they changed the pit sequence. before i could use rear view while the tyres are being changed and i could tell see how far back the other cars are in the pit lane, so when they hold me in the box for 15 seconds i can see how far the car was behind me and post a video.
Now with the new animation its hard to tell where the other cars are and so covers up that they probably havent fixed the pitbox holding bug for the 3rd year running.
my xbox wireless wheel worked fine in 2010, it also worked fine in 2011, then they brought the long awaited v1.2 patch out for 2011, then i couldnt use my wheel with force feedback on, whether it was on 10% force or 100% it made no odds, wheel still felt like it was set to 150% and you coudlnt keep the thing straight on the straights it would kick and vibrate all over the place, no amount of tweaking resolved this, so i just resolved to turning the FFB off (yuk might as well brought a cheep as chips wheel from argos!?) so anyways Dmeo on last night and now the car is twitching all over the place with FFB off or on!? i mean i played with the dead zones and the saturation, the problem gets worse the higher you make the adjustments,a dn better the lower you get only problem with this is i need the wheel t be on what i would only say would be -10% on th top 3 settings for steering, however it only goes as low as 0% i hope to god they fix this, this to me will make the game unplayable, i WILL not use a pad to play a driving game! so if the wheel dont work then im not gonna bother, i deleted the demo off my HDD last night as it was winding me up and i thought im just gonna leave it now til the game comes out, but man, i got blanked last year on these forums from CM, infact i think just about everyone did once they released the v1.2 patch it's like everyone just ignored the forums, then after xmass told us what we all knew,, no more patches!! i hope to god they can sort something out as simple as wheel settings? i mean it's not hard is it? ive known games from 10 years ago have proper settings, car games in general are not new, the genre itself has been around for years, everyone else who makes car games can do it right? why cant CM? but im getting ahead of myself... i'll reseve that right to spout off come release day
it's not the 21st Sep im looking forward to but the 2nd Nov when the patch is no doubt released! then we got to wait till 2013
Indeed, the car is all over the place. How on earth people say it's fine on the straight I'll never know. Must have had about 15 pints or something. Does not matter what you say though, the demo will probably be the same as the final version. They leave the massive flaws in the game, and that's it for another year.
Cancelled my pre-order after the demo. Cant cope with that amount of movement on the straight. Unreal
It is pointless grabbing random comments on how the game sucks I could grab a load the other way. Just play the demo if you don't like it move on no point then moving to troll mode IMHO.
Grabbing pc version now, I'm on the lite side so if it's good for me the preorder stays if it's not I won't no huge drama....
