Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

I would have done, but I assumed with it being a DS3 I'm having problems with that this would be ok. I'll create a thread if I don't find a fix sometime tonight.

Seem to have hit a ceiling of ~390 FSB on this setup atm. The RAM is rated to 400 so I'm currently running the chip at stock (2.4 / 266) and running the RAM at 444 to just check that it is OK.

Not sure what else to try really.. using max chipset/ram voltage and upto 1.55 on the CPU but still won't post past about 390 / 3.5 GHz

I changed to a DS3 with a nice duo chip and 6400 ram, but a word of warning, anyone with a pci-e 7900GT graphics card, with a vf900 on, beware, it`ll catch with the bois battery area, and the southbridge heatsink bigtime. Way round it only is to put diff cooler on the graphics card, or drimmel the copper fins where it catches the mobo. What a pain in the arse.

OK I put on the revision 3 bios (the current official release) and I could then boot at 400 FSB (3.6) into Windows but it would fail SP2004 right away. I restarted and relaxed the timings CAS4 to 5 (even though its rated 4) and it then wouldn't boot  Had to reset the BIOS.

Weird.

umm then i would say its a bios / board issue.
Instead of trying the 2.5 divider (it was that wasnt it?) try the mem at 533 then go up. Just some thing i was reading a sec ago about the intel axe board.

there muast be a way of at least getting you set up stable at 400Mhz.

um, no it doesn't. I've got a DS3, with an X1800Xt with VF900 mounted on it. absolutely fine, doesnt catch at all.

Haven't started clocking it yet, only got it built and windows installed last night. will finish setting it all up and gaming to night, then clocking at the weekend.

Same here, got the X1800XT and VF900 and no probs. Maybe the length of the X1800XT helps a bit in this case.

I'm lookin at a DS3 and besides all the BIOS and other problems, I'm still interested.

Just been reading XS forums about this board and what caught my eye was that they recommend not using a USB mouse or keyboard when trying to oc.

This seems abit strange to me, is this right?

Wow thats damn good :) I'm amazed how well your ram does. I have to use such loooose timings to hit 3ghz i might try to tighten them up soon after i finish priming.
