omg, why why why, even my 820 is overclocked Duke!
Its good to see that the DS3 is going strong, had a lot of help from this thread. keep it up guys.
It isn't stable - will have to aqquire another chip :)

Hi guys,
Just assembled my ds3 with E6300 and 2GB of Corsair Dominator 6400C4D and Sapphire X800GtO2 and have problems with graphic card because no signal is going to the monitor. All fans are spinning. It is rev1.0 on the board.
Any clues??

Aaaargh how do I change the RAM timings on the DS3? It says hit ctrl + F1 on the main BIOS screen for advanced menu, but when I do this nothing happens

@ kasperas@eircom ...have you cleared cmos?

@ beast...press ctrl+F1 with bottom left highlighted in bios then it should jump to the top...then go back to bottom left and enter....assuming they are the same as DS4....i think it's called M.I.T (MB Intelligent Tweaker)

Oh yeah I have MIT as an option on the main BIOS screen. But I can't figure out which option in there changes the timings manually?

Ah, I think I get it now. Apologies, I'm new to this.

I was expecting a heading like "manually set RAM timings"

and then you enter 4,4,4,12 or whatever

But I think that each timing has a specific name on the BIOS, is that right?

Have a look at the screen shot in the first couple of posts in THIS thread. That will help you.

Yeah, that's as I thought. Does it go in order though, ie. the advertised settings for my ram are 4,4,4,12, if I go through the settings on that screen using those timings starting with 4 at the top and 12 at the bottom?!

Really thick question coming up:-

I have just changed my Corsair ram to Geil.

The Mobo defaults to 1.8v right, and the corsair is fine with this.
The Geil needs 2.1v right?

Well, 2 pointer here, but

a-can the Geil actually startup with 1.8v
b-If I reset the BIOS, am I stuck with having to put in the kingston or corsair in order to reset the RAM volts to 2.1v?

The reason I ask this, is simply that getting RAM in my board ( Even stock Kingston and Corsair ) have proved to be a complete and utter waste of my life because it takes that long to make sure that they are seated 100% spot on... For example, swapping the corsair to the Geil took me almost an hour and I had to switch it on & off possibly 20 or 25 times... Several fags and coffees later... It went in.

I have been told that if it does not boot up on the BIOS settings, it tried the previous settings out... While I have boards that do this, I have never had such fussy and awful ram as the geil before?

Hey there Rakoon,

The GEIL should boot up fine on 1.8 although some people had trouble in the very early days.

Mine was fine when I built my machine and the mobo came with the F4 BIOS. Ram compatability is supposed to have improved 4 fold since then.

When inserting ram make sure it's the right way round. The notch is slightly off centre. Don't mean to patronise but this is a very easy mistake to make. Also ensure it's in between the guides at either end (a torch and uncluttered case really help with this) and push in firmly. Once it stops, push quite hard once on either end. Each gentle "shove" should give a little click. So don't listen to the Prodigy when building :D

If you still have trouble then do 1 stick at a time so atleast you know which stick needs reseating  If your still having trouble then you ram just has naff contacts. Some people recommend using a rubber (pencil eraser ;) ) to clean contacts if your having trouble but tbh it shouldn't be needed.

Hope this helps :)

Cheers guys.

I had been having paranoid thought running about in my head about when I need to really.

I do indeed do one stick at a time, and funnily enough guess what I was listening to the other day while I was fitting them???

How that for cioncidence eh?

Cheers

Just fitted a couple of Alpine S series 5x7's in my car and to test them I chose the complete works of the Prodigy :D

Found out today that my Mum has got me a Fli Trap active 12" sub for Xmas.

How cool is my Mum!!!

Cheers m8 :D
I cleared cmos and also took 1 RAM out and changed hard drive cable. So later I'll see what cause the problem.
I'm so excited.
Just I'm afraid that my corsair RAM are PROMOS. I didn't find them on the list but v2.1 all are PROMOS

. Set DRAM Timings to your rated speed. E.G 5-5-5-15. The DS3 doesn't always set these right in Auto mode so worth putting them in manually.

My DRAM timimgs are 4-4-4-12 for the 2gb Dual CHannel Geil 6400 (800mhz)

Im running my fsb at 400x7 atm with 2x ram (so it is 800mhx)

**** i still be using the 4-4-4-12 timings? In cpu-z it shows that im running them at 4-4-4-12 because I changed them in the bios. However, CPU-z also has a page that shows that at 400mhz the timings are 5-5-5-18?

**** I have let the bios auto do these?
Or **** i just leave the Ram withthe 4-4-4-12 timings @2.1v (as a result of +0.3v)

Cheers!
Im new to OCing!

Hey guys.
Just built the new computer and was having a poke around.
My ram is the GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400 800MHz, but CPU-Z shows 400?

Am i being stupid or is somethig wrong?
Cheers.
