Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

Anyone using the DS3 (rev 3.3) motherboard here?

Not even sure if OC are stocking the rev 3.3 yet, but I would like to know the advantages over the rev. 2 boards (if any).

:)

Haven't heard of this? Where have you seen it (not competitors but review / news sites)?

does this DS3 have an internal firewire IEEE 1394 connector so i can attach the port on my case to it?

also, how many fans can be connected to it including the processor fan as i have 2 on my case

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products...ew.aspx?ProductID=2455&ModelName=GA-965P-DS3P

anyone know where i can buy it from? :)

You're not allowed to ask for competitors! You might want to read the forum rules as they are quite tight and quite tightly moderated. The simple answer to your question is it's not on sale. Heck, the Rev 2.0 boards aren't on sale in the UK yet. If you need the Firewire, buy a DS4 or a P5N-E SLi, otherwise dig in a 4-6 week wait while the existing stocks are run down.

Is your sadness warranted?

You have sadness?

In short no.

The only real difference between v1 and v2 is that v1 has no FireWire.

Hardly somethign to worry about since you can get FireWire cards for a fiver these days.

the DS3 rev 2.0 is known as the Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P (P for "Pro") according to a website:

The second release of the 965P-DS3 (rev 2.0) featured a few nice improvements, amongst which included a 100% solid capacitor design for greater stability when overclocking. The 965P-DS3 (rev 2.0) was one of the greatest Intel LGA775 overclocking motherboards available, and at $150 it was also one of the more affordable ones going around. The only problem was that it was missing many of the features found on the more expensive 965P-DQ6 which retails for a little over $200.

Features such as ATI CrossFire technology was not supported at all by the 965P-DS3 (rev 2.0). Furthermore, there was no RAID support for six of the eight SATAII ports found on the board, and Firewire support was non-existent. Therefore, it seemed obvious that Gigabyte needed to meet their customers halfway, and they have with the new 965P-DS3P (rev 2.0), the “P” standard for “Pro”. This version will cost around $170 and will feature everything found on the 965P-DQ6 with the exception of its elaborate cooling system and 12 phase power design.

I've found it online in the Uk using Froogle for £91 ;)

Ok,

I have just noticed that for some random reason my overclock has just dissapeared?! Anyway - I set the multi back to 7 and 429Mhz = 3Ghzish - But there is a problem.

When I load into windows and bring up CPUz it tells me the multi is only x6 and it will occasionally flash onto x7 then back to x6 - The core speed is also reported at 2.57Ghz and will changed to 3Ghz when the multi flashed onto x7. Anyone know what is going on?!
Also - What temperature program can I use on Vista x64. Both TAT and Core Temp have failed to work :(

Sounds like your BIOS reset and you've left Speedstep or C1E switched on. That will take the CPU multiplier down to 6x from 7x on an E6300.

How do I turn these off then?! I trawled through the BIOS and can't see any entries relating to this.....Could you point me to the right screen? Cheers bud :)

In the BIOS go to ADVANCED BIOS FEATURES and select that.

Set the following to Disable;

CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)
CPU EIST Function (this is speedstep)
