I've got this bundle ^ with a Asaka HSF and 256mb 1950pro

Could you give me some figures on how to get it above 2.0Ghz on air? RAM could probably do with a tweak and all. ;)

Thanks.

Two things.....If you're OC'ing get a better cooler - My Tuniq Tower has been brilliant. Also, why not wait till monday and get the pre-oc'ed DX10 BFG card for £199.

Right, the following arrived over the past few days so I have been having another play with the board..

Scythe Infinity Heatpipe CPU Cooler (Socket 478, 775, AM2, 754, 939, 940)
Thermalright HR-05 Northbridge Heatsink

The CPU is at 1.4v with the mem at 2.1-2.3v and a 0.1v increase on the northbridge.

They both fit although it is tight with the northbridge touching the Scythe at the side. Currently have a fan either side of the Scythe and the temps have lowered a tad although im waiting for the AS5 to bed in. The northbridge has gone from toasting (and burning my fingers at touch) to being less than luke warm which im happy with.

Had my E4300 running at 3GHz (340x9 1:1 4-4-4-12) all last night and played BF2, the new BF and CSS without any crashes. Even with the above running, both the HSF and northbridge were cool to the touch.

Booted at 3.1GHz (350x9 1:1 4-4-4-12) this morning which it has run at before however sometimes the system would just reboot itself (I have turned auto reboot off in Windows) so i'm going to see what its like tonight.

One thing I have noticed is that sometimes my X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Pro sometimes doesnt work, Windows says its an unknown device and I have to reboot before it picks it up again :confused:

On the BIOS menu screen press CTRL + F1 and it unlocks the memory timings.

The MCH voltage is the northbridge one :)

Just want to know what settings you have in bios to get over 3ghz on a e6300. At the moment Im going the safe route and keeping my ram within its range of 800fsb. Im geussing to achieve over 2.8ghz you need to go higher then that. ie what multi and bus speed?

My settings are as straight forward as you can get I recon.

FSB @ 400 = 2.8
FSB @ 430 = 3.0

So...

FSB = 430
PCIE = 101
RAM = 2:1 ( 860 )
CPUv = 1.4 ( Although many can stay at stock volts like mine )

erm, I will check, but Im sure thats all I have to do???

Hang on...

Ok, I jsut cleared my BIOS and went straight for the 3.0 option...

This is what I did... Its all in the M.I.T Section of the BIOS, and this is straight from a CLEARED CMOS, so it should work for you to get you to 3.0Ghz

CPU CLOCK = 7x ( As normal )

CPU HOST = ENABLED

CPU HOST = 430MHZ

PCI-E = 101

C.I.A. 2 = DISABLED

SYS MEM MULTI = 2.0
( Bringing the RAM to 860Mhz )

DDR2 OVERVOLTAGE = +0.3
( The Geil likes to party at 2.1v but the BIOS defaults to 1.8 )

CPU VOLTAGE = 1.275
( Mine is fine at stock, so maybe a nudge to 1.35/1.4 might be on the
menu? )

This gets me staright in at 3.0Ghz

The RAM has done 1000Mhz at these settings, and the CPU only needs a couple of notches on the volts to stabilise itself at 3.5 but the above settings are fairly easy to acheive.

Anyway, try these ... They are very easy and will pretty much be a definite to get you to 3.0

I just tried 3.01 with the 430 bus. It crashed on second 3dmark06 test. Only thing different from you is my cpu volts are at 1.45 and my pcie is at 100. Cpu didnt seem to go over 60oC.

Take the PCIE to 101

At 100, it does not get locked down, but at 101 it does.

The CPU Volts are neither here nor there... Im keeping my volts as low as poss but it wont make much difference really... 1.45 is fine too!

Im at 32c IDLE and 44 under load with an Artic Freezer

I have 2 cases for my DS3 PCs

E6300 @ 3.4 = Thermaltake Armour
P4 Prescott 660 @ 4.3 = Thermaltake Mozart

For what its worth, the Thermaltake Soprano was used for the P4 system and that was not too bad either, and kept the thing fairly cool.

what bios version are folks finding best for clocking? im at 2.9 on f10 and no matter what i do things seem unstable above that.

specd e6300, ds3, 2gig g.skill pk 6400, vcore is 1.4 any higher and my temps rocket.

suggestions?
