Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

here is tuppence wroth had major porblems overclocking noting going right
read on the xs forums about some graphix card not helping to overclock so the suggestion was to remove the the pcie card (mine being leadtech 7800gtx) and using a std pci one to clock the pc up then when its clocked put the pcie back in its worked for me just thought i would let you guys know

Hi there,

I've changed the link for the bios, my mistake.

What VCore voltage are you running?

Sorry, my post wasn't very clear. +3v for memory as it should be.
With these volts and on 4,4,4,13 on 325fsb ( this was with a 2.5 ratio)it just gave out a long beep and reset.
This i think is a memory prob yes?

can someone give me some advice.. my ds3 adn 6400 have the problem when resetting the comp..

the screen doesn;t refresh
when i reset, i coulod see the system booting up but *** screen remains blank.. i have to forcibly turn it off and wait for a couple of miinutes before restarting..

is it due to the driver issues? i have a 1800xt and I haven't yet installed the graphics driver, i wanted to wait till i get a stable overclock before i installed the majority of the drivers.

i am usign the official f4 bios cos i thought it may have been due to *** f4e that i tried earlier

Been doing well overclocking so far but have hit a wall at FSB 450 was wondering if it might be my graphics card (leadtek 7900GT) what are you able to OC to now, what was max before?

couldnt even clock it at all m8 the pci card tick is the only way i can clock it i think it might be the leadtech bios on the 7800gtx as that loads for about 2 -3 sec of which i think the gigabyte bios thinks that its not stable then goes into the reboot then goes back to std

success here, able to get the DS3 , 6400 and corsair xms2 to go to 3.2 gig without many probs, will run a few tests over night, see how it goes. 8x400 basically for now ;)

sorry mate misread it a bit. :o
Core at 1.45v, under load 51deg.
Going to fit the ninja tonight and will up it to 1.5v to see if that does the trick.
If i set it to stock (cpu) and up the ratio on the mem to get me to 4,4,4,13 at about 800, this will tell me if it's the ram i believe?
If it benches the mem is fine and if it doesn't it should mean the ram won't run at stock default settings (2.1v, poss up to 2.2v)
Thanks for looking.

Regards

Jobe

edit: +0.5v? that's a tad high isn't it? Bout 1.8v

Hi there,

Yeah if you run the RAM out of sync it will tell you if it's a problem with the cpu or the mobo/ram. I've done the same thing.. my RAM is fine at 440 (stock is 400), so I'm swapping my E6600 with a m8 who has the DS3 as well, which he knows can go over 400-450 FSB. If he can't get my 6600 over 3.5 then I know it is a cpu itself and my mobo is ok.

Sorry I meant +0.1v on the cpu. You got me confused as well now :p

Tested both cores during the night, and no errors to report with my 800x4 situation (volts as per Dukes guide). Im well happy, but soon i will no doubt push for more .

Hey Duke just a couple of things.

1 In your oc thread you say up the cpu volts to 1.45. Then in a reply to my previous thread you say up it by +1v. Just to clarify, the 1.45v is correct for air yes?

2 the f4e bios. I have the official f3c download. Do i just swap the file with the f3c bios, so leaving the two app files and the new bios file.

Thanks for your patience. ;)

Regards

Jobe

Wow the F4e bios rocks, now i can up my multiplyer to 13X on my x6800 before it would only go to 11X:D
So far so good.

What program works for finding out the temps and volts, ive tryed Speedfan but it was a bit iffy.

Hers a few bois shots of my DS3 , 6400 Duo2 , and corsair xms2 6400 ram. Note ive left ram timings to auto, you can manually input these, but mine found them as 12.5.5.5, which is fine for now. Currently at 3.2 gig stable as a rock ;) On F4 bois

This may help, well it`ll remind me...lol :D Well Dukes guide did help me a little ;)

Hi there,

Default voltage is around 1.35 so I would recommend running 1.45v when overclocking to begin with. This can be increase to 1.50 and 1.55v with performance air cooling or water cooling.

With the new BIOS; just download it to your desktop and run @BIOS (found on the driver CD) and point it to the new BIOS file. Update as normal :)

Just got my 6300, DS3 and Connect 3d x1900gt geil 6400 (cpuz reports it as 5300 with 5-5-5 instead of 4-4-4) and Akasa 961. Flashed to F4e then Cranked up straight away to 460 FSB yielding 3.22Ghz @ 1.4V which is nice! Just a few questions:

1. Can't find where to play with ram timings in the bios though am I blind?
2. My card is defaulting to 500 instead of 575MHZ on gpu also showing 76c under load, that seems pretty high! Summin wrong here?
3. Speedfan is reporting 38 idle 53 both cores loaded with sp2004 is that about right?
That's all for now gotta get back to playing! This has been my easiest overclock ever! Been doin it since the PII 300 to 450Mhz days.

Just thought I'd say Hi.

I got E6400, DS3 and the 2Gb Geil low latency stuff. Amazingly, it all booted up fine first time, I was a bit worried about stories that it wouldn't post with this memory as it's supposed to run at 2.1v (but the DS3 defaults to 1.8v).

Haven't had much time to play with it yet (I'm at work now) but I think I got it all running okay at stock, although for some reason CPU-z says the multi is 6 (while in BIOS it's set to 8). It also can't seem to make up it's mind about the chip speed, it says 1600MHz one minute and the next it say 2133. Boot screen and system properties both say 2.13.

*edit* Ok, I've found out why: it's because of the CPU EIST Function, disabled in BIOS now =)

I've noticed the heatsinks on the bridges get very very hot to the touch.... but temps are reported around 40°C.

Press CTRL + F1 in main BIOS screen, this will then "unlock" the mem timings in the screen where you change multi and stuff (can't remember what that one is called)

*edit* It's called MB Intelligent Tweaker (M.I.T) bottom left of main BIOS page... see here
