***Official Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH, Z77X-UP5 TH and Z77X-UP7 discussion thread***

running an xfx pro 750w here

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-001-XF

runs fine

stefk005 what bios are you using? and whats the board doing just crashing or not starting up?

The board was doing the exact same thing reported in the article I linked: fans and lights turned on for a sec and then everything switched off. Bios was that on the board - F3 - but with the first board I managed to get it to turn on and updated to F7, which made no difference. Don't worry, all possible diagnostics were exhausted by myself, friends, two sets of tech support and a shop-full of computer technicians: it's 99.9% a matter of incompatibility with my trusty VX450W... Talk about time and money wasted!!

it should work with that psu,you need to use the very latest beta bios's as when i got mine it was a pain to boot up but once it did n i flashed to latest bios its been flawless

heres latest beta f10b,try with onboard graphics and try different vga/dvi and hdmi ports if you can and try with only one memory stick installed in the second slot from cpu socket

try poping out the mb battery and leave it out for atleast 30mins,then put in and try

Well, I'll attempt it when the board is sent back to me, but as I said, I was unable to start the thing up at all with this one so it might not be possible. Already said, all the possible diagnostics have been tried.

I agree that the PSU should be fine, but as I said, read the article and you'll see that a similarly "fine" PSU caused the same probs. They thought it might be the new power stages.

keep trying to power it on and off,it doesnt always post but if you do get it to post update to that beta bios,it improves cpu microcode and better memory compatibility

it could be that rather than psu,ive seen gigabyte boards suffer from ocz psu's in the past x58 days but corsair should be ok

Thanks wazza, but I'm rather skeptical on the basis of what's already happened (or not happened!!).

Would be good to know what PSU's everyone else is running. Anyone using Corsair PSU's? If so, what models?

Sometimes on booting, my system will beep like an alarm then boot. It will go into BIOS to set defaults, but if I just save and exit it will reboot fine. Kinda annoying.

Slew settings were introduced for the Z77X-UP4 TH - F10b, Z77X-UP5 TH - F12e, and Gigabyte Z77X-UP7 - F5j beta BIOS, as well as other Gigabyte motherboards.

Try the settings below, this should help with RAM overclocks.

Here are the new settings and what seems to be the best for different types of modules:

Start with level 2 and then increase for different levels of stability and such for samsung and PCS, samsung will for instance give you instance 51 on level 1 if you go too higher over XMP multiplier, but change to level 2 and it will not 51 and it will boot.

I am now on the 3rd board (UP4) and still no joy getting it to boot with my system. Could you guys be kind enough to tell me what PSU's you're running with your UP4/UP5's, so at least I know what will DEFINITELY work!! Thanks!

list your components your using

im using
xfx 750w pro silver rated psu
8gb samsung green memory
tested with onboard graphics and a 5770 and 7850 gpu

all work fine and no issues on f10b beta bios

try reseating your gpu a few times and use hdmi cable if you can,i had a few detection issues on the shipped bios but other than that its been fine

Hi wazza, thanks, good to know the PSU you're using. I'm would like to stay with Corsair because of the guarantee and RMA service, so am veering towards a TX/HX 650W. Anyone here using one of these with this board?

fantastic board regarding voltages,just 1.188v for 4.5ghz

nice can you overclock in windows like asus?

can you got any lower ?:P

think i'm going to get this board been with asus for years love the software they have
but looking for a board that doesnt need lots of volts for decent overclock

so 1.200v for 4.7ghz nice temps

@Waz

At the 45x multiplier, the system was stable at a BIOS setting of 1.100 volts
did you try 1.1?

i can go as low as 1.176v but theres problems loading the graphic drivers at startup,it is fairly stable apart from that, thats why i stick to 1.188v

it really depends on the cpu you get, some need more/less voltage
