***Official Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH, Z77X-UP5 TH and Z77X-UP7 discussion thread***

Just ordered for tomorrow...
Gigabyte Z77X-UP5 TH Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM
Samsung Green 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz 30nm Dual/Quad Channel Kit (MV-3V4G3D/US)

Would deffo need help OC'ing this thing, I'm terrabad at OC'ing.

Tidy.

Hopefully a later BIOS is on the board, otherwise flash it using Qflash.

You can happily use the Ivybridge overclocking guide in the first post to help guide you through.

Just installed it and updating windows, what's the flashing about..? Does it need a new BIOS than the ones it's on (F3) I think I saw.

I keep getting a pop up saying "Power surge on Hub port" which says it's a USB port that's the problem, I took everything out of the USB ports and still it pops up.

Check all connections are plugged in properly.

Re-install latest Intel USB 3.0 driver 1.0.5.235 >> http://uk.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4279#driver

  • F11 3.75 MB 2012/09/03 Enhanced SATA capability
  • F10 3.75 MB 2012/08/31 Enhanced memory capability
  • F9 3.75 MB 2012/08/23 Improve system compatibility
  • F8 3.75 MB 2012/08/20 Improve VGA compatibility

I would upgrade BIOS for every single one of those improvements. You should update to F11 without question. ;) I found Gigabyte's @BIOS works fine for flashing the BIOS for the last 6 years. But people are probably more comfortable flashing via USB drive in BIOS.

FYI - Upgrading BIOS on my UP4 TH allowed me to run my Samsung Green at 1.5V instead of 1.65V, was well worth it. Also has provided more stable overclocking.

Samsung Green UP4 TH - 2133MHz CL9-11-11-21 1T TRFC 114 1.5V. :)

Fixed the USB hub thing, was my mouse software that was needed on. Pop up stopped and Icon gone away. Not OC'd yet as really get confused with all that stuff. Could do with some good settings though to give a try.

As for the BIOS update, going straight to F11 will add the earlier versions too?

Spoke too soon pop up still there. I have tried unplugging all USB things and still it remains. I have the latest USB3 drivers installed.

The BIOS are all just separate. F11 will include all previous changes, it will be the most up to date. There's no patching it's a complete erase and write operation.

Stuck Razer BWU drivers on and also updated BIOS to F11, the USB thing has finally gone away (touched wood it stays away) As for F11 BIOS, when booting or rebooting it just haults on American Megatrends screen for a fair while with the number b4 on the mobo. The it boots into windows, wasn't that sloooow before.

Yeah I noticed that too with the mouse it would only go from left to right near the top half of the screen.

Well my cursor moves far far far to fast, I really do have to creep the mouse along to keep the cursor at a slow manageable pace.

It was fine before F9 BIOS and this BIOS.

Never mind, thats what the keyboard is there for and I don't spend that much time looking at the BIOS.
