**Official Gigabyte Z87X-OC Discussion Thread**

yeah, ill keep you up to date after i hear back from the shop, hopefully its something simple.

Lets hope so! Sounds like something simple or something very bad which would result in the board/PSU being replaced.

Incidently, before taking it to the shop did you built it outside the case, with just 8 pin EPS, 24pin ATX, CPU, RAM and fan?

Hi Guys,

Thinking of getting this board as part of the extreme bundle, but I am hearing some bad things about this board:-

People having problems with memory compatibility
This board not booting if using a Corsair 860AXi PSU - which I have. Can any owners chime in here with their experience, positive or negative. In particular anybody using an AX860i PSU.

Depending on responses I may have to go with the Asus Maximus formula V1 instead - although it would have been nice to try Gigabyte again as it is cheaper, and also better if RMA needed.

Your thoughts please?

Been near flawless for me, as for memory I've ran 5 different kits in it no problem what so ever from a few different brands and ic's.

superb board....no issues what so ever...used Avexir memory without issue and currently using Ram in my sig. No experience with that PSU though..

Cheers guys - good news so far, anybody can chime in that is/has used a corsair 860AXi with this board though - need to know if the not booting problem with this combination is a problem or not.

erm no m8,rookie mistake i guess :(
anyhoo, the shop guy is on the ball so will see what he makes of it.he did say that the 12v rail on the psu has to be good as it is the one that takes the strain in the psu,im not very educated about these kinda things tbh,i just hope its fixable and i can get to use the pc.
thanks for all the replies, really helpful bunch on overclockers :p

I can't see any reason why an ax860i would cause any specific issues, it is on the haswell list of supported psu's after all. If it is down to that specific psu it would be worth getting directly in touch with corsair to see what they make of it.

Hi Pgi,

Apparently this problem has been posted on the web, and many have contacted corsair about it, but they are denying any responsibility. Also there is a mod you can do to the AX860 I to get round/fix the problem, but means you have to send the PSU back to corsair for the mod - hassle?????

It just appears to be the digital corsair units with the issue (ones that end in i) so any other corsair unit should be fine.

If buying new the majority of what ocuk sell are reputable brands, ocz, xfx, antec, Silverstone, seasonic, evga etc...and should also be fine.

Update, the pc lives!
On the mobo there's a switch to enable or disable the 1st pcie slot, it was turned off apparently, so I can get into the bios now, so will add my dvd drive and install windows, then add hdd. Phew
