**Official Gigabyte Z87X-OC Discussion Thread**

Hey Guys,

Just FYI - I downloaded Prime 95 Version 28.1 build 2 64 bit from tweaktown and ran it on my 4770K at 1.31V in Windows 8.1x64 bit pro, and within less than 2 to 3 mins my temps were running at 79-90 - stopped it quickly before throttling. Might want to avoid this version and stick to version 27.9 build 1
instead. Phew - I only use prime to check relative stability for 10 to 15 mins, but not on this version !!!!!

I'm still thinking about this board... between this and the Asus Z87 MAXIMUS VI FORMULA

I know the asus is more expensive but it just looks like the sex!
only thing that puts me off about the Gigabyte is the colour ....

True - the colour of the gigabyte is not to everyone's taste, but then how often or long do you spend looking at your mobo? The Formula is very nice, but the saving in money with the Gigabyte for the same or better performance can't be ignored. I have the Z87 OC board and it is superb so far.

I went for the Gigabyte.
Admittedly the Asus M VI F was out at the time and I was choosing between this and the MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming board.
Still don't regret getting the Gigabyte.
Admittedly the Asus does look nice and when it was announced I was considering upgrading. But after thinking about it for a while decided not to as I didn't think it really offered anything I'd need to make it worthwhile.

When I get this board within the next month I will be doing a clean install. Not decided which OS yet: either stick with 8, downgrade back to 7 or upgrade to 8.1.
Which would be the best choice for compatibility or would they all work without problems?

Not going to cost for any of the options as I already have both 7 and 8.

Anyone having problems installing the App Centre?
Just done a fresh install of windows 8.1 and wish I hadn't bothered - first I had the secure boot conundrum and now this.
