**Official Gigabyte Z87X-OC Discussion Thread**

It was the last thing I expected as I wasted hours running through bios to see if it was something in the that caused it and it turns out to be something so simple,by the way my board as f3 bios which one should i upgrade to and which is the best way of doing it.

just don't get flicking the switch for the ejector seat:eek::D

latest beta or final bios would be worth a try imo,and always flash in the bios using qflash and mem stick

I'm on the newest bios and the problem is still there. Also what's the dif between updating the bios in windows and in the bios itself?

I used the gigabyte program to update the bios in windows itself without any problems. Pretty sure I updated to f7

anything windows based can be prone to crashing = bad bios flash and borked chip, you do have dual bios chips and it can recover

but the safest less problematic way is to flash in dos through the bios

The V8 is apparently 161mm tall, so unless I have the wrong case linked or you have got your case type wrong then I guess a 160mm tall heatsink will fit.

I just checked your link again it's deffo the same case as mine and it does state a 150mm cooler is the max that would fit .when i had the v8 installed it was almost touching the large fan on the case door so do you reckon i should be Ok for nochua to fit

How do i stop this board from auto overclocking my 4770k?

It does not seem to be doing it from looking in bios lol.

But its running the cpu at 4.3ghz and when I looked at my temps it maxed out at 100c!!!!

Have you got one of the settings within Easytune altered? of the top of my head there are some preset overclock options.

All BIOS settings at default?

Press F2 to bring up the classic mode (easier for an old man like me) and enter the advanced frequency section, look for things like "performance boost" hwere there are a number of options of various % values.

Or just go to the last page and select the load default value option and save+exit.

See what you can find.

I just loaded optimized defaults and it just seems to keep reverting to 4.3Ghz -_-.

The hell is going on!

All the performance options just say auto - so i cant disable performance upgrade :\.
