**Official Gigabyte Z87X-OC Discussion Thread**

Wise decision!!! The 4.6ghz bundles can go higher with good cooling. OC is a great board for this too!!!

Dont hammer with stress tests it degrades em.

X2 Bios for benching Paul!!! PSC etc is.......... Oh you dont have any!! Great!!! lol

CL6 RipjawsX PSC are on their way to me, may have a CL7 PI PSC kit en route too, now spill :p

RJX's are 1600mhz 6-8-6 1.5v
PI's are 1600mhz 7-8-7 1.6v

I'd think both should do in the region of CL7 2400+. Though extra cooling on them may be required. Will consult the master (who looks to have used those RJX dimms on his recent vantage conquest!) for pointers once they're here :)

i have the old revision board that i bought 3 weeks ago and its giving me a few issues.
what the hell is this :/ i read somewhere that there was USB issues with the old revision ? could this be the issue
if i uninstall the device then scan for devices nothing shows up like its not even there
then if i reboot the system and when loading windows the install box will popup and say installing then fail to install...

what is this :/

running X02 bios, X04 bios does not help at all.
also i have been getting BSOD116s when ever i go past 42 uncore
even with 1.250v on the system agent.
seems when my keyboard does not light up G19 during logging in if my keyboard does not light up i know a bsod116 is about to happen. if i go from 43 to 42 uncore my keyboard will light up and i get no bsod....

something really dodgy about these OC boards or my board 116bsod is chipset voltage related

though i have core and io not sure what voltages to try in there that are safe.. though i have tried some makes no difference.

Have you tried a fresh install of windows? making sure you install all the drivers.

No mate i havent tried that, actually that could be the reason as this windows 7 x64 os i have is very good at still working with other motherboards.

its had previous board on it sabertooth x58 then gigabyte z87oc, could be a driver conflict issue though i have no issues in device manager to do with drivers ect just reason i have done this is to avoid having to reinstall os :(

oh well i will give that a try going to take me a week to backup my stuff lol

SATA III (OCZ AGILITY 3).

I've swapped cables and ports etc... with the Samsung 1TB mech drive that it recognises no problem.

Hmmm.
I had heard that Z87 had some issues with some (OCZ?) SATA II drives, but I thought SATA III was supposed to be ok.

silly question, but I take it you've used the SSD before and know it's working?

Yep, pulled from a working system with my windows 8 install on it I'm hoping to salvage :D

I'll see if it needs to be in ports 0 or 1 tomorrow, failing that pull it from the icy box it's in an try it that way to make sure it's not the box that's gone faulty.

Try the asmedia ports if you have them, also if you have spare pc install it on that then Initialise it in windows or asign new drive letter to it,then try it on your new board

On my board, all sata ports are red, (asus rog bling) bloody confusing tbh. Ssd, 1 TB samsung and my blu ray drive are mounted in the top most ports. Tbh, for such a high end board. The maximus VI formula is a disaster layout wise.

Your paying a premium for that funky red crap lol

I personally wouldnt call it a premium price tbh mate. Yes the board is expensive. But after selling old parts it cost very little. 5 years ago i spent probably the same on an x58 p6t dlx v2 board with an i7 920 at full retail price. In the last year alone, ive blew over £600.00 on cpu's alone, (i5 3570k. i7 3770k). It's peanuts when i was doing competive clay pigeon shooting. £3000.00 on a gun, then £70.00 3 nights a week. Shoot very little now as pc gaming has took over. Much cheaper but im thinking of getting into rifle shooting. Thats gonna be at least £3000.00 for a decent rifle and scope.

Thought I best update the first page, hadn't done it since I created the page back in mid July. :o

Included the latest F7a beta bios dated 3rd Sept. No Gigabyte Utility updates as yet, surprised...

Will have a read through the manual to see what ports are what, though only having 6 ports I was presuming they'd all be Intel chipset driven?

Will it need to be initialized and assigned again despite that already have been done from my previous install?

Will fish out my gparted sticks and see if that picks anything up.
