That's a good result. Wonder why, is it XP or the clocked quad?! Some people seem to think CPU clock speed isn't having much of an impact.

I have the Steam version and the 180.84 drivers, and there is a GTA IV profile in my nvidia control panel.

The profile is there on mine, but only if I un-check "show installed games only," ergo nvcpl doesn't recognise that it is installed. Whether the profile still works in this case, I really don't know - anyone else experienced this?

That is the same on my machine yeah. I am quite sure the profile should still work, because I know it works for other games I have installed which the nvcpl doesn't know about. AFAIK it just detects when the named .exe is run, that should be all that matters.

9800gtx,q6600 2.4,latest drivers,64bit vista,4gb ram.

To run on 30 - 40 fps i have to play at these settings.

1680x1050
Texture quality : low
Render quality : high

View distance 10
Detail distance 1
Viechle density 1
Shadow density 0

Is this another crysis?

You think the performance i am getting with my pc on gta iv is normal?

I mean as everyone else is experiencing.

Couldn't say tbh cause i haven't looked at enough benchmarks to compare. But i would say by looking just at the FPS, its pretty decent.

Am i wasting my time trying to run it on a Skt 939 X2 4800+, 2Gb, G92 8800GT 512Mb?? Will it be at all playable? On my 17" TFT i normally game at 1152x864 or thereabouts.

Thanks.

I would guess you'd be quite badly CPU limited and you'd be looking at about 20fps average. Your graphics card is good but it wouldn't run at its full potential because of your CPU.

Even at a comparatively low resolution??

You would be CPU limited so you would quite possibly get the same fps at 640x480 as you would get at 1152x864.

I don't want to discourage you from getting the game, but I think you should be cautious about your expectations of performance.

Just tried this at 1920x1200 with all on low, can't believe how bad the performance was. 3Ghz C2D, 4Gb Ram and a 4870 1Gb, this game is an utter joke on PC.

Tried dropping the res down to 1440x900 but it was still sub 30FPS and felt horrible.

Glad I downloaded it. **** you Rockstar! :)

Well the multiplayer is great.I agree that we must say a good "****" to rockstar.

What was the time for delaying the game spent on?Some kind of group ... you know with the devs or eating donuts maybe.

They need to get to work and give fix this lag.

No swearing

Might want to get rid of that sweary rycon1!

As above, patch is supposedly out tomorrow, but I wouldn't bet that it will fix all these problems. They seem more deep-rooted than just a cheeky patch.
