Wtf, restarted my machine and dropped the renderer setting down 1 to very High, and got this.

Mine on the auto configured settings.

First is at default clock speed of 2.4GHz, second is overclocked to 3GHz. All the same graphics and view distance settings etc. The overclocked score is no higher, the only difference is the CPU usage is lower! Vsync is forced off in the drivers. I know the fps score is half of my refresh rate so it suggests it's vsynced, but it shouldn't be. When I have fraps running, the fps goes into the thousands on the loading screens and if vsync was enabled, it wouldn't.

Oh and I am unable to select texture quality above medium! I thought 512MB of VRAM was the 'recommended' level?

dirtydog, we have a similar spec

would you say it's playable at those fps levels? does it dip a lot?

^I notice street has 83% Video memory usage on a 1GB card

It wasn't playable in games with those settings either. I had to drop everything to medium to get an acceptable (not good) frame rate in game.

I'm thinking I might leave the game for a couple months until there is a patch or drivers out that sorts out a few of the issues. Plus I don't see why I should sign up to two online programs to save my game offline!

Somewhat playable but far from ideal for my liking. The whole game feels very sluggish and in slow motion compared to previous GTAs, although maybe that's just the way GTA IV is?

That's wound me up as well. I can only assume they think (perhaps rightly) it is a foolproof way of stopping piracy, if only people with legit copies can save their games.

Same here man, my system is also brought to its knees by this :(

Not really the first time we have found benchmarks to not reflect actual gameplay experience though. Tbh, I dont know why people got their hopes up for this unpatched game. I'm sure they will release a couple of patches in the future though.

Ya think? I don't.. :p

Its making me wish I'd pirated it instead so I wouldn't have to put up with all their unnecessary programs..
