***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

I can't even handle the MP mode anymore. As a result I haven't played in ages now. Everytime I try and get back into it, I see that the same old networking garbage is still present i.e laughable load times, timeouts etc.

I am tempted to get back into SP again (finished it on the PS3 years ago) but knowing that all the new vehicles and content are mainly for MP I am immediately put off. It's a shame because I re-played IV tons of times due to all that content (Thanks MS). I've only finished V once and thought it wasn't all that.

GTA V - need help with settings

I have a 1060, i5 4570 and 16GB of ram and ssd in my htpc and like to play GTA V at 60fps to prevent screen tearing as its really ugly. Around 5% of the time it dips below 60fps. Mainly when there's a lot of traffic combined with long draw distance rendering.

Unsure if I'm cpu or gpu limited. I suspect cpu as overclockong my 1060 still gives me the issue.

What settings should I turn down to reduce the cpu overhead?

Ps after seeing this today on my nephews PS4 I should be more grateful!!!

Not you CPU, your setup does not have a bottleneck.

Turn off all advanced graphic, put grass to normal and post FX to normal, use FXAA and not MSAA. Softest shadows. No shadow MSAA.

Driving fast in the city will cause drops and keeping above 60 at all times will require sacrifices to graphics quality. It is defo doable on a 1060 however drops in the 50's is on the better side of good for GTA.

Try those first and then start dropping the settings down on the rest of the settings.

I have a 980 and a 4790K and with everything turned all the way up except AA/AF (and high detail streaming while flying turned on) I almost never dip below 60. You should get similar results.

Try turning AA and AF off completely and see if the issue persists. You're not running mods are you?

If the issue goes away with AA/AF off, try slowly dialing them back up one at a time until it dips again to find ideal settings.

Also make sure your GPU drivers are up to date. Do a clean install when you get new Nvidia drivers. It's an option inside the installer executable.

BTW I've got a 1080P/60Hz monitor.

Recommends a £400 monitor to run a game properly, gg.

Why stop there? the 34" 165Hz curved IPS G-sync jobs are quite nice and just a few pubes more expensive.:D

Damn right and don't you forget it!

I'm on an old i7 860 at 4.2ghz with a 980ti at 1440p and had to turn all AA & AF off. Also make sure vsync is off as it killed my FPS for some reason, then play with the shadow settings, set them low and work your way up.

Once I'd the above I was able to stay at between 50-60fps most of the time but I will say that is referencing single player, I haven't touched or will ever touch the multiplayer.

sent a request in to the crew.

I played about 30 mins single player, then went online. I can see there being quite a bit of advanced stuff to get my head around as certain update posts on the rockstar website about starting motorcycle clubs etc are over my head. And people talking about ROI etc.

When i was online there seemed to be a few people using chat, but couldn't see a way to find them on the map.

Maybe i should do more single player, but i mainly got it for online. Pretty fun nonetheless

Thanks to those who have suggested solutions.

Firstly I'll stick to playing it on a tv as this rig is my htpc. I have to use v sync as the screen tearing is so bad. I did forgot to mention (whoops!) I'm using no aa but 1.25-1.5 x frame thingy as my (aa).

I'll have a play with some settings

On another note I absolutely love this game.

Only on the sp and about to start the second heist but it has me hooked. The graphics can be gorgeous or not so great depending on where/what I'm doing but as above I saw this run on a PS4 and well it could have been a PS3 and I thought sp was slow to load off my ssd it was about ten times (no kidding) slower on PS4.

R* are currently removing modded money from all accounts..

See here

Many many unhappy bunnies and now many many poor unhappy bunnies...

Not sure why R* would be doing this now, given the length of time money has been sloshing about.

Also

Banning has been updated

So now if you are caught cheating you will be suspended plus your characters will be reset and all progress reset... oh and lose all property as well....

caught a second time.... Perma ban...

Still have 110m on my account.

Can anyone help with the benchmark?

On One rig I am getting 70-90fps in the benchmark.
My other rig is locked at 60fps and refuses to go higher.

It's attached to a dell monitor and yes v sync is off both in nvidia control panel and in game. Only difference is I'm using the redux mod.

Congratulations. I've tried to install that twice, once following the text instructions and once following the YouTube video instructions and both attempts have resulted in GTA V crashing before I get to the main menu and needing a re-install. I've given up.

Brought GTA 5 in the Steam sale for £24. This is the third time I've brought the game, first on the 360, then PS4 and now PC.

Really happy with the way it plays, I have most settings on high and getting 60+ FPS with my R9 270 - it looks and feels a lot better than the PS4 version. Pretty late to the party by the looks of things! :p

ENB is locking your FPS. When in game press shift + enter to bring up the ENB config panel
