***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Well you are a bit too critical nex, I see your point but the game is quite old and still good fun and played buly lots with new content, its one of those if you have time you grind it or if not you pay. Thats how it goes this days

But it is not quite that simple. If R* had increased rewards for mission/heists/races et all, then the player base would have a better chance of accruing money in order to pay for the increasingly expensive DLC items. When I started (PC) the most expensive item was the adder at 1 million. Now 2 - 3 million is the norm after upgrades. Business ROI is many many hours before you make a profit. The game is geared up for grind or shark cards. I have 2750 hours online. I have only earned 280 odd million.

The game has been ruined by the seemingly unattainable without spending cash. Kainz called it. Freemium is now the model. I am surprised they have not spun off GTAO as a free game and added ******* coins to collect on the streets.

I am still playing as I have game mates and I really enjoy it. I am very lucky in that I have money and can basically buy what I please. That can not be said for new players. I also think this will be the last PC release unless consoles get cracked. Take2 have spent to much time and money going after PC modders to prevent cheating when they could just cut their losses and say, no more, concentrate on Xbone and PS. It is after all where the cash cow is.

On another note. I have finally completed the bunker firing range and I feel very smug.

I started playing GTAO back during launch on the PS3, eventually moving to the PC version when it came out years later. Things were simpler then, and as Strudders said - the most expensive car was the Adder iirc too. I remember Contact payouts being completely reasonable too. Clothing also didn't cost silly amounts of money. I worked (grinded) hard and amassed 8mill. I then left as I saw Rockstars plan from a mile off - cars were gradually increasing in price thanks to that Benny's Custom shop and mission payouts had totally been nerfed. After that it was obvious to see where the game was headed.

I would encourage players to stop playing as TT/Rockstar will continue to do this and it'll affect their future titles greatly but as we've seen with DLC's - it'll just continue and new gamers will see it as the norm.

Pretty much what was said above.

The grind for money is one of the main reasons why the BF 4 regulars from our dc server stopped playing (and quickly at that too....)

I still think the game is extremely good fun and no doubt the content is fantastic but unfortunately the money required to make use of the new content is ridiculous and then the return you get from doing the new content just doesn't make it worth while financially.

But it won't change, shark cards have generated R* millions, in fact, iirc, boogie2988 in the above video said billions now..... so things will only get worse for future games :(

Some promising news of sorts:

Question: Are PC Single-Player Mods Allowed?
Answer: Rockstar Games believes in reasonable fan creativity, and, in particular, wants creators to showcase their passion for our games.

Yeah, but they've also said:

This is not a license, and it does not constitute endorsement, approval, or authorization of any third-party project. Take-Two reserves the right to object to any third-party project, or to revise, revoke and/or withdraw this statement at any time in their own discretion. This statement does not constitute a waiver of any rights that Take-Two may have with respect to third-party projects.

Which is basically what I've been saying all along!

Incidentally, I'd wager they'll instigate a zero-tolerance policy on all online modifications such as FiveM etc. It's about damned time!

That's basically what they have said all along, however it clarifies their position on single player. It also demonstrates that they have had a chat with Take2 over all this as there appears to be a new version of openIV released. However devs will comment tomorrow with details.

So hopefully all this silliness regarding to Open IV and the genuine single player modding community will cool down and they can get back to making awesome mods.

I won't say it is a victory of any sorts, I would say it is seeing sense.

Edit. Alexander Blade has finally released a new version of scrpthook and native trainer this evening as well.

I'm Level 403 online and I've never bought a Sharkcard. Disappointingly I haven't found it as funny as you, but I still want to carry on. I don't care if I never buy another thing, except for ammo and snacks.

Well lets put it this way, if there was no DLC/content for the online side of things, do you think as many people would still be playing the online game today? Nope so good luck doing all those events when hardly anyone is playing the game.

And if there is no new content what is the point of grinding away in the missions?

It's horses for courses Nexus. I don't play the PVP events, in fact I don't do PVP, I am rubbish. I do missions, heists, VIP work and biker stuff with friends. We also do some racing. GTA is multifaceted, it has many different online components that can be played without the grinding should you wish. So I am 606 on one character and recycled my 200 character. I am not one for buying all the new toys either. I still play the game to death, DLC's released or not. Yep at some point the game will die, it is nearly 4 years old after all, but it is still massively popular. It is just a shame that the goal posts for new players are set so wide that shark cards are the only way to be able to compete in certain parts of it or have "status" within their peer groups to have fun. Take2 can take the blame for that is rumours are to be believed. As for the people I play with, i had 20 regular players on last night who, like me, grind to make money and enjoy playing with each other and messing about and are pretty much like minded. As I say horses for courses.

That there is what I've been saying.... the main reason this game is still so popular is because R* have continually added to the game/online, if R* didn't add anything like the above or/and made it super easy to get, I think even yourself would have bored of it a long time ago. In order for games to have good longevity like that, they need to either have a very high skill ceiling or/and good content with some grind required so at the end of the day, it is that grind for the money to buy new fancy toys that keeps the "majority" of players coming back to the online side of things.

I'm not much of a PVP person these days either and I certainly wouldn't play any of GTA's team death match etc. modes as quite simply the game is **** for that type of game mode. Racing, heists and missions are the only good things imo, I don't care much for the free mode stuff either.

And just to be clear, I don't have a problem with:

- the content
- the grind (although there is a point where too much grind just puts of many people i.e. this happened with all our regulars not just in this game but also the division and some other games)

I'm just addressing this point that was made:

I don't care if I never buy another thing, except for ammo and snacks.[/QUOTE

Playing GTA for 4 years, does that still need shark cards then. Log in, sell a stock car at the mod shop that'd be around 14 mil on that time frame.

GTA is a driving game to me, maybe helis, cant do pvp. It has more cars then gta4, I consider it an improvement then, They wont bring out gta6 for years till next gen consoles are common and then on pc even longer, that would be the biggest negative about this dlc system

What a **** show from T2 and RS, talk about going in with a sledge hammer after ******* all over its customers for years with shark cards. I loved it where that T2 exec told the industry that 'we aren't milking them for its worth compared to industry standards'.

Cant believe this is where the gaming industry has got to for such a massive game, feels like its the Candy Crush of the 3rd person online gaming scene.

Yep well my account have been banned and reset. I have no reason what so ever why. 2800 hours play time gone. Throughly hacked off as their is no redress.

Not just me but two other of my playing group as well. One with 3500 hours.

Anyway that's that. :(

How could they not give a reason though?

They just don't.

It's all "automatic" however I wonder how many people have been reported for using explosive rounds since gun running came out.

I know I never cheated in any so from that side I have a clear Conscience, still disappointed though...
