***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Shark Cards are on sale, probably to coincide with having taken everyones cash away, ill gotten or not.

Trouble is everything is so expensive. 2mil for a bunker, 225k to research camo, 2m for each new vehicle.

I have about 500+ hours in GTA Online and i find it fun but really they have rigged everything to make you buy the shark cards as it would take you ages to earn it legitimately, every new DLC is pretty much the same.

I was a little excited about the gunrunning update when i saw the APC with the SAM on the top thinking it would make a good defense against hydras when selling stock, but no rockstar have made it so that it cannot track targets so its pretty much useless, which is the same with everything they do as they don't want anybody making any money with things like the CEO, MC or Gunrunning stuff.

I often play solo in a empty public lobby so i can do my CEO crates in peace, as doing it with other randoms is just a recipe for disaster :), i like the CEO stuff because even the sell missions can be done solo without too much problems but with things like the MC stuff you have no chance by yourself as they often have you deliver in slow post vans etc so the trick is too change session lose 10% or so and try it again and hope you get a better sale like with the speedboats.
I accept that it is meant to be played with a few friends but that can be harder to do when you all have full lives and not much time on your hands to all be on at the same time.

It seems the gun running DLC is the same i read this off another forum about it

http://gtaforums.com/topic/889444-gunrunning-bunker-full-product-sale-beware/
Yah so I finally filled out my bunker to the brim with product. It tops out at 700,000 and if you sale to Los Santos it's $1,050,000. I tried selling to Los Santos with my wife and it was horrible. You get 15 minutes to make 20 drop offs in 4 Dune FAVs. The drop offs are spread out so far you'll need at least 3 other team mates delivering at once and even then you need to be wary of enemies constantly attacking you after your first drop off. I can't imagine delivering in a freemode lobby full of players. Either way I thought you guys would like to know about this here rather then me posting in the Bitch & Moan topic. I'm gonna deliver this crap and then shut the damn thing down lol. Got all my research done first day so I'm good. Peace

Its also going to be interesting in free roam when more people have the heavy sniper with explosive rounds as they can down a jet in two hits also because of the splash damage you should be able to destroy crates and cause all sorts of havoc for others, there is also thermal scope for the heavy sniper so no more hiding hehe.
Not many have them at the moment as its like 10mil overall cost to get them when you factor in all the things you need to buy bunker, research etc but once they all have them say goodbye to making any sales :).

Its no wonder so many people end up cheating lol. But i still find it fun mostly the races and missions with friends, heists can be fun but usually with randoms it can be a nightmare :)

At the behest of my better judgement, I'd like to remind you that the modding community is not the driving force behind the game. Most of the revenue is derived from the console market, which have no access to player made content. You can leave negative reviews until the cows come home, but the impact would be marginal in the long-term. I'd wager that a large percentage of people would still purchase the latest Rockstar titles, even if Take-Two remained unamiable about the whole situation.

The problem is that the modding community believe they can do as they please, irrespective of any legal ramifications, and will not hesitate to voice their displeasure in the worst way possible.
Kicking up a stink, throwing your toys out of the pram, and calling Rockstar/Take-Two every name under the sun will serve only to reinforce their decision.

Like it or not, you are not their target demographic, and your one-off purchase of the game does not keep the game afloat. GTA Online is arguably their most profitable venture, and they will do anything to protect it, even at the expense of the modding community.

Was going to say is that a statement from someone at R* or/and take2?! At first it read like it!

But the last paragraph cleared that up, can you imagine the up roar if that was their statement.....

But yes sadly he is right in what he says :( Although modders/pc community have every right to "throw their toys out the pram"....

online fair enough, offline should not matter.
pc gaming is and has been in tatters for years without this crap.

Agreed. I understand not being able to mod their online mode, but seriously, taking away from their single player game? Really, it's just a greedy tactic to milk more money from people by forcing them to play online for the new content.

Remember when PC games never had DLC and we are mocking the PS3/Xbox 360 for that crap? Not to mention the prices of console games. Look at PC now, DLC is now completely "normal" and PC games now release closer to the console price.

I was quoting myself actually, since it's relevant.

I've already received a number of death threats over there because I won't pander to the hate brigade. My standpoint is that I'm not against modding, provided it's fully endorsed by the developers, but I'm not averse to them reigning in control should they deem necessary.

I respect your onpinion but disagree. R* have many times given their tacit approval to modding. They have used countless GTA IV mods on their servers and make reference to not banning people for using single player mods.

This situation can translate to real world ones with supplier vs buyer power, so you're walking down to the buyer meeting hall and standing up giving a speech how you disagree with them. I would expect some hate bro.

I am starting to have a strange problem when I get disconnected from a session I am playing with my friends (usually in the middle of product delivery) It started only yesterday but it seem like i got DCd today every time after few minutes
Any ideas ? I've not changed any setting in the router as loads of people suggest

Is your router plugged into a power surge/multi-way adapter thing or straight into the wall? Kid you not, my router (gateway) didn't like the power surge adapter it was in, and I'd get kicked from sessions for ages.

Router is directly to the wall, however I am using eht0 over power adapters, but I have been using those for a bit now and didn't seem to have any problems, looks like I might need to do the direct cable from router then. But it's strange as this was working fine for weeks before the gunnruner update...

Do you know if your friends use firewall tweaks to keep the session exclusive to your group?

Another post of mine from the GTAForums:

If Rockstar adhered to the demands of the modding community, where will it end? I can't honestly see them allowing a minority of their users to dictate the direction of the game.

The media coverage and negative reviews will only get you so far. Do you really think they were oblivious to the prospect of controversy when they made this decision? Something like this is not made lightly, but I'd say they were more than prepared for the inevitable backlash.

Your defiance will serve only to reinforce their decision. Do you honestly think Take-Two will show amicability after the talk of boycotting, circumventing security measures, or piracy?

All you are doing is fanning the flames. You're not salvaging anything from this debacle.

Another post of mine from the GTAForums:

Again I disagree. Rockstar, not Take2 have always given tacit approval for modding (see my last post to you) I also think you need to look at history. At no point has anybody from Rockstar come out and said you are not allowed to Mod. Take2 are a law unto themselves as publisher and ultimately rights own and seem to want to erase 15 years of modding a game that Rockstar themselves would publicise and promote.

It's very unlikely that Take-Two will renege on their decision. Their revenue easily supersedes anything that a minority of players can deprive them of.

I'm not entirely unsympathetic of your plight, but I think people need to touch base with reality. We're dealing with a corporation that favours a much larger demographic, namely the console market. The modding scene is something they can afford to relinquish.

It's probably not that then. There's a bunch of other stuff, and I do think Gunrunners has changed some things. I think the ones more affected now tend to be those who never had the need to do port forwarding, check their network is set to private not public, set up a static IP, firewall rules, adapter rules (Flow Control disabled, Interrupt Moderation disabled, etc), Windows Defender exclusions for all GTA/Rockstar Social Club/Steam folders and main processes, check for/and set the MTU size their router can handle without dropping, etc.

I did all of that in the past and it helped a fair bit (plugging router into wall later was the icing on the cake).

Doing several trace routes wouldn't hurt either, just to rule out your connection to the Rockstar cloud itself (although the issue will probably be peer-to-peer dependent). Open Command Prompt and enter:

tracert prod.cloud.rockstargames.com

Do it like 5 times, what's the slowest ping you see in any of the hops?
