***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

I'm a real sucker for a good sunset

What do we think of raytraced shadows? They look really nice in most scenarios but are at risk of being a little soft maybe?

Soft is how they should be in relation to distance from the surface vs distance from the object casting the shadow, we've been too used to sharp lined shadows for decades which are not accurate portrayal of how shadows behave respective of distance from the light source <> object and surface cast upon.

A lot of people are having a hard time with this over the past year or so, suddenly seeing accurate shadows which to them looks "odd" etc.

I might have a look to see if there are any hi-res texture packs available for this too because some of them are showing their age as you would expect.

Also I could feel the room getting hotter as I was playing. Forgot to put DLSS on didn't I.

The GPU fans didn't give it away??! My 4090 is almost inaudible when DLSS is on in this, meanwhile using TAA/DLAA or FSR Native AA results in up to 1800rpm GPU fans lol

Well they were a bit more vocal yes :)

Yes slight drop in reflection detail but no real gain in fps, so stuck with quality. The engine still is not CPU><GPU optimised for modern systems to see those gains.

They do, but you need to inject the Preset K into the game using profile inspector as the game ships with DLSS dll 3.7 not v310.x - Otherwise it uses a lower preset as Preset K is not known to the older dll files. Rockstar launcher won't let you dll swap, so injection method via profile inspector is the only way to bypass that.

Yeah lower input resolution so to be expected, see my IMGsli posted before comparing all the upscaler options, there's virtually no difference between DLSS Quality and DLAA, this is of course using DLSS 4's Preset K with the latest dll injected, not the stock DLSS 3.7 which will be using Preset F so not as good quality when using super resolution.

I'm sticking with dlss quality anyway, not like any need for lower presets since with smooth motion, getting 165+ fps which is plenty good enough. Suspect with official frame gen support, will be getting close to 200 fps and if/when they implement native hdr support (apparently was suppose to arrive in the enhanced patch but didn't for whatever reason...), means I can claw back 10-15 fps from RTX HDR method so will be at the cap of my screen.

Will look forward to playing through it again, but have a couple of questions...

- as someone alluded to earlier (can't find the post again now), is it possible to migrate saves from the old version? Tbh I may just start again for the hell of it...

- Guessing FiveM (modded online client) won't work with it? .... The cynic in me suspects this might be why it was launched as a separate game, rather than a big update! If I'm being less pessimistic then maybe it was so people with older potato PCs can still play it

Edit: From a quick google/reddit search, R* now own FiveM and have said they will support both versions until FiveM can support it :D

Had to uninstall legacy and install the enhanced version to get RT, and the game wiped my old save, thanks Rockstar! :p
