***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Take computer on campus, pillage Internet, run away giggling like a little girl?

I found a better alternative. An alternative download location using a certain sharing protocol. All the pre-load files are there and its maxing out my connection. How sad is that?

I seem to have fixed my issue. My problem was that I preloaded on a 120gig ssd and when initially unpacking I ran out of hdd space.
I fixed this by installing Steam on my other 256gb drive and then copied the depotcache folder from my ssd into the newly installed steamapp folder on the 256gb drive. After this I just clicked on install as usual and it started at 99%.
thought this might help anybody else with the same isuue.

Where is the bottle neck in this game?

CPU or GPU?

At my native res of 1920x1200p, I put everything on as max as it goes (msaa 4x in order to enbale txaa - I think) I was getting 40-60fps using a 970 and a 3570k @ 4.5Ghz.

It was playble but was getting awfull lag on the menus. Decided to go with the Nvidia optimized defaults. Feels much better. Just trying to workout where my bottleneck is.

Also Im getting lots of tearing. I've turned adaptive vsync on, which improves it but still get the occasional tear. My monitor is quite bad for this.

If you install Steam on that SSD do all of your games get installed on it? I feel like I'd want my main beasts on the SSD (GTA, Skyrim) but everythign else on the storage HDD.

Not sure mate but after I have it installed on the 256gig drive it will then shrink back to 62gig so I can transfer it back on to my 120gigg ssd :/. What a mess about lol I had everything sorted - day off, took kids to school but just thankfull I never had to download it all again as my connection is turd.

Thats a bit worrying, it runs fine at 1080p on my GTX670 with the optimised settings but I was considering purchasing a GTX 970 on the assumption that I could max everything out and get perfect smoothness...

If you really want to max every setting including AA and the advanced sliders maxed you'll need more than a 970, the opening sequence in the snow and driving around town is fine but if you go into the countryside with a lot of grass and foliage roadside the FPS plummets in areas.

Can't post the video directly due to some minor some swear word, but a guy was basically live streaming during the install/setup process for GTA V and someone used his key before he could activate it fully :o

Youtube code thing for video: pEiyA0cGSAo

I'm not spending over £300 on a video card for one game so the 970 will be as good as it gets. Surely it'll be powerful enough to run the game really well?

And it's sitting on an SSD as well.
