***Official GTX 670 thread***

Non reference 7970s are still very inefficient compared to GTX 670 / 680.

More power consumed and more heat output for the same level of performance.

Nobody has ever cared about heat and power consumption last gen with the 580..... and the 7970 isnt that much more power consuming than the 680/70

seriously, dont be a fanboy, they are both just GPU's

Stop making up excuses liek 'its too loud when overclocked' thats nonsense the DC2 and windforce are as loud as the same 670's.
Then move on to " But its more power consuming and hotter" When its really not that big of a difference atall and has never been a problem in the past with the 580 and a huge difference.
Plus the 7970 is cheaper so its a good trade off.

7970 is good value and a consideration at the price its at.

If you want Nvidia features (like me) then the 670 is also a good consideration.

Its a shame they didn't put the 7850 on that graph, I'm sure that is ahead of the 670 in terms of performance/watt if that floats your boat. I'm more a fan of overclocked performance/£ though.

Yes I have, and lots of people on XS seem to care about it. I want the lowest temperatures and highest perfomance possible.

Agreed +1

I recently had the MSI Twin Frozr II GTX580 for about a week before I sent it back under DSR as it was a noisy monster and ran way too hot for my liking, so less heat & less noise are very important to me, now with the GTX670 I not only have a card that is quiet, but also runs cool and its more powerful than the 580 to boot, oh and it uses less juice too, winner! :D

Then theres no problem with a Windforce 7970 vs a Windforce 670 then is there, atleast nothnig like you were moaning about with it being 'super loud and extra power hungry and very hot', not that much difference in temps/noise/performance only the 7970 is cheaper.

The 670 is more efficient, but the 7970 isn't as bad as you were making out mate specially at the price it is....

You could price GTX 580s at £50 each. I still wouldnt put them in my PC.

You could have given me two GTX 580s for free. I would have stuck them on ebay and kept my 560 tis.

GK104 is the replacement for G114, and now I have it.

So just received my KFA2 OC 670, using EVGA precision X and the heaven settings in the benchmarks thread i get:

1834
fps: 72.8

In the EVGA tool it shows my GPU clock went upto 1176, does this mean thats my out of the box max clock?

Sorry never overclocked a GPU before....

Techpowerup GPU-Z if thats the same is showing my default clock at 1006, memory at 1502 and bosst at 1085... in the sensors tab it shows my max gpu clock as 1176 as well

That's pretty low then?
To overlclock it do i just increase the clock in small increments?... What about increasing the memory?

Here's my MSI OC version at stock.

Boosts up to around 1110.

thanks for posting this BH, I'll post my results when I get my MSI OC to see if it's the same, also can you post some other details like idle/load temps and whats your thoughts on the fan, is it loud at all?

Waterblock is here!!! Just going to spend the next 10mins counting the screws and washers as the bag with everything in had burst inside the box :(

Guys do you think that Seasonic X660W will be ok for GTX670 SLI, with no OC.CPU is SB 2700K @ 4.6GHz, 2 SSD's, 1 HDD, Xonar and 8 GB RAM?
I know that Guru3d recommend 700W at least, but I wonder maybe i can do some tests on mine Seasonic??
Tests only.
