****Official GTX580 user reviews/benchmarking/overclocking thread****

It's like being in heaven. You can't hear the 580 at idle and when ramped up you have a perfectly acceptable noise level (I like quiet pcs) as opposed to having a vacuum cleaner standing just by you. The cooling system is also all very effective and I’ve had around a 10-15 degree drop in idling temperatures.

Just installed mine. First thing i notice is the sound is a lot less than my 4890. Ran vantage and got gpu score of 25000 compared to 9000 for my 4890.
Thanks fellas. Good to know :)

So like, 580 arrived today.

Popped it in, updated drivers, downloaded MSI afterburner for some fun, but it wont let me change the voltage, even with allow voltage control ticked

What am I doing wrong lol?

Much better, ty!

Just need to figure out how to get the sound to come through my headset instead of the hdmi cable on monitor and I'm golden for playing.

btw the beta releases are time limited :( so fingers crossed a public release comes out with voltage control before the beta time limit is up... silly decision imo.

Not quite in the same league as 580 SLI but seeing as I paid less than half the price I'm not complaining.

** goes back to nursing PSU **

Think I could get that upto 95fps if I was a bit more adventurous - but it would be right on the edge of stability and almost definitely beyond the capabilities of this PSU.

I was thinking about 3 580's but the way the stupid Rampage III is setup it means running them in slot1,2,3 at 8x,16x,16x, or 2,3,4 at 16x,8x,8x. However as soon as you drop in your 1x sound card then everyting goes to 4x,4x,4x,4x. The only solution is to run the soundcard in the dedicated 4x slot under the 1st 16x slot where your top 580 goes, and run the other 2 580's in slot3, and slot4, but then your 3way sli bridge wont reach. In fact Asus said it was an error in the manual to use slot1, 3, and 4 for 3 way, and it should be 1,2,3 or 2,3,4. Should have kept my 759 Classified. I think I'm going insane again.

Decent FPS for what you payed for the cards, brave man running two 470's @ 800Mhz with a 700 watt PSU.

Actually had the PSU fan "kick in" during the test which I've never had before its usually on a low speed. If the specs are anything to go on that should only happens at over 82% PSU load :S
