****Official GTX580 user reviews/benchmarking/overclocking thread****

Received my gigabyte today (after Evgas went out of stock)

Not sure on my results so far as I don't have a great deal to compare with as of yet but result on the left is with cpu at standard clock 2.6ghz and on the right overclocked to 4.1ghz

The card itself remains currently at stock speeds. Max temp while benching is around 78 degrees and 36 degrees idle. I must say as well that the gtx 295 is by no means a really loud card unyet the 580 is a lot quieter!

Power draw from the mains of my pc under Load was 375 watts max with cpu at stock and 430watts with my cpu overclock.

The card it replaces:

fitted:

bench (ignore low min fps on first bench):

Clearly the cpu speed has hardly any influence on the result with the heaven benchmark.
I'm thinking the score seems a little low though???

Can you run the Final Fantasy 14 benchmark ? The GTX580 should hit 5k+

Raven,

You do know that set of results are from a highly modified card run a under extream conditions ? Just though I would let you know that its unlikely you would be able to get even close to them types of results. Just so you know, don't try this yourself mate, you will probably kill your card.

Score looks about right to me seeing as 2 of them manage ~120fps with those settings and not hideously behind my pair of overclocked GTX470.

What do you score in the Final Fantasy 14 benchmark with your GTX480 ? Can you make 5k at 1080p ?

I think we have enough Heaven GTX480 results to quote in our sleep.

Don't worry I will, keep posting crap in threads, please do. I suggest you don't post again unless it's related to the thread topic.

So why don't you run at 1080p ? even 1920x1080 must be considered a minimal setting for a GTX480.

Not a request for any more GTX480 heaven spam BTW

Its not a troll comment its a fact.
Standard industry is now 1080p.
Its not my fault you havent caught up and u still game on 1680 rez.
You can RTM that all day if you want.

I choose to play at 1680x @ 120Hz because atleast for me its better for fast paced MP games - I can take everything in easier at that res/screensize.

Because I'm happy with my IPS panel monitor and the games I play are demanding enough with max IQ to not even give me 60 FPS average in the majority of them. The majority of review sites bench 1680, I can game at 1080p on my LCD TV, I lose a few FPS, it's not exactly a massive step up in res from my current one.

Don't we have any results in 1080? as I'm sure most people game in 1080 or higher? -_-

Actually 1680x1050 is the most common res according to the steam survey.

Anyway moving swiftly on.

Has anyone managed to crack 850mhz core ? Without running into the Fermi power monitoring wall of fail ?

Or the FPMWF as its becoming known.

I only benched at 1680 to follow suit with other benches. I shall bench at 1080p from now on then and currently downloading FF14 bench.

I have to say mafia 2 was running as sweet as a nut when i tried it.

I always gamed at 1080 even on my 295
