Official Haswell review thread

I'm calling BS on that OC.

I don't see why.
I could run a Thuban at 4.5GHZ (My old one) if I'd shot enough volts into it, and that's far from the norm of a Phenom II.

You'll always get the odd super chip, Haswells problems come from heat, not a lack of potential.

But then again, they did nothing with it, it could just be a validation.
They never gave temps or stability really.

Since I got a 2nd GPU I've been meaning to pickup a cheapish second hand 2600/2700k for the HT to help SLI.

Do you guys think I should go that route or change out the mobo and grab a 4770k?

Nah the review smacks of Intel brown nosing, go read their conclusion. 5.4 on an H100. :o It's less of an In depth review and more of an Intel relations exercise.

I know you have to test the system to in an inch of its life when stress testing for an OC, but in real life is there ever going to be anything in real world usage thats going to push these Haswell chips to 100% and for 30min stints? In which case the temps arent soo much of a concern......right?

Comparing an overclocked 4770k to a 2600k, theres not a huge amount in it (4.7Ghz vs 5GHz). Not enough for me to consider upgrading.

Anyone else disappointed that in terms of cpu power, theres barely any jumps these days?

Pretty much what I expected. So looks like I shall be holding onto my I5 2500K for a while yet. Can't say that I shall loose any sleep over it.

It's old and slow and doesn't support HT? It's not us you need to convince ;)

It's old ? It's slow !!!! lmao. Is that an argument against it lmao ? It does everything I want it to with ease right now, so 'old' or not, that is a fallacious argument. How is it slow ? It runs all my apps and games with absolute ease, it's not slow at all. Seriously, what are you talking about ?

'HT' is only for those who need it. Some of us are gamers and don't need 'HT', so again not important.

Unless you are a 'Must have the latest tech freak' then an upgrade from SB to Haswell is really not worth it by any stretch. Especially when you factor in a new mobo.
