It's old ? It's slow !!!! lmao. Is that an argument against it lmao ? It does everything I want it to with ease right now, so 'old' or not, that is a fallacious argument. How is it slow ? It runs all my apps and games with absolute ease, it's not slow at all. Seriously, what are you talking about ?
'HT' is only for those who need it. Some of us are gamers and don't need 'HT', so again not important.
Unless you are a 'Must have the latest tech freak' then an upgrade from SB to Haswell is really not worth it by any stretch. Especially when you factor in a new mobo.![]()
err one reviewing site got an overclock of 5.4GHz

As someone who won't be building until at least August, would I be wise to see what Ivy Bridge E will bring?
Dissapointing , But every cloud has a silver lining, With The money Iv saved from not buying a new motheboard,CPU,and Video cards, With the £1700 approx, I can buy a nice telly and go on holiday, And still have some money for a fish supper.
Thank you intel & nvidia![]()
Looks like i will be sticking with my overclocked i5 2500k for a little while longer yet then :/.
When are we going to get get a real big leap in CPU performance? Sandybridge -> Ivybridge -> Haswell all seem to be very incremental.
yeah coollaboratory liquid pro,but it can't be used on aluminium as it corrodes it,copper or nickel plated is fine
This stuff here, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=TH-005-CL&groupid=701&catid=27
And thats the best stuff to use on the heatsink (Mount Doom) as well?
So the dye is super tight to the IHS when place back on then???, as this stuff it much much thinner than your normal thermal paste, was just wondering if the liquid ultra would have been better?
Have just bought 4 x Intel Celeron 2.66GHz 256K LGA 775 CPU's for £5 to test on and see how difficult it will be to delid a CPU. ill give the vice, bit of wood and mallet method a go on 1 of them. I was wondering if heating the top of the CPU with a heat gun would make the glue easier to remove?
Think one of these would be a handy investment aswell....
Would stop the blade from slipping into the dye by accident as well
I think those older socket 775 chips were flux soldered, if you try removing the IHS using the vice and wooden block method you will most likely remove the IHS as well as the core from the PCB.
Most of the 5GHz overclocks are ES chips
