Usually that style system is 1:1 for the pulldown and 2:1 for the low row. You can tell by following the cables through the pulleys - pulldown cable will attach to the handle end and the stack. Low row cable will attach to the handle and a fixed point on the frame.

Thought this might be a better place to ask this question...

I'm planning to get a barbell and a squat rack to work out in my second floor bedroom, I assume this is safe? I can't believe the floor wouldn't support 100 KG of weights and me.

I saw this set here: https://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.u...ast-iron-tri-grip-weight-set-7ft-bar-wtwk0546. But the barbell looks weak. However, I can't find anywhere with cheaper weights, so is it worth getting the set and then a better barbell later?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

It is not ideal but it should be 'safe'. If you had an accident and 100kg smashed into the floor though you might cause some damage.

I'd have a look on Mirafit, they have an 7ft oly bar for £100 on there and loads of bumpers in stock. https://mirafit.co.uk/mirafit-black-olympic-rubber-bumper-plates-choice-of-size.html

To be honest I was planning to just not drop the weight if at all possible. So was looking to do RDLs over traditional deadlifts for example. I am not interested in competing, just getting bigger and a bit bulkier. It's mostly for aesthetics, if I am honest.

I did reasonably well with 30KG of dumbbells over the last year, definitely got bigger. I've cut down now but am going to start bulking up again hence why I am looking at this all again.

Thanks for the link mate, will have a read over.

I've been looking at upgrading my setup (squat rack, 20kg oly bar, EZ oly bar) and springing for a lat pulldown/row cable machine that takes oly plates - like this: https://www.onbuy.com/gb/gym-master...xtra-pulley-for-seated-rows~c12286~p23384118/

I saw a Hardcastle one that gets mixed reviews due to it lifting when doing curls and the lat pulldown range being questionable. Has anyone got one of this type of machine that they can recommend?

Also thinking of getting some hex DBs - saw some for £2.75/kg which seems half decent.

Yea I can't see that being very stable. Do you have a wall you can use to go with a wall mounted option?

I have this one - https://www.gorillasports.co.uk/wall-mounted-lat-station

There are a few others available e.g. https://www.thegymrevolution.co.uk/...s/atx-wall-mount-high-low-pulley-wzs-520.html

They look really good - thanks for the links. Wall mounted is ideal for me actually, to save space. I'll see if I can find out when the Gorilla one comes back in stock. Will keep an eye out on Gumtree/FB too as I have seen a lot of stuff up for sale now gyms are open.

Yea the Gorilla one is really good, the only thing I'd say is that for lat pull downs you'll need something to hook your legs under. I haven't found a solution for that yet but I don't really do lat pull downs.

Here it is in my home gym

That is a very handsome setup. I think I could come up with something for locking legs in.

I like the board for storing your handles, ropes etc. - where did you get that from?

With regards Mirafit, as I've said before, https://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.u...ast-iron-tri-grip-weight-set-7ft-bar-wtwk0546 they have 100KG here for £365. Obviously bar is rubbish.

But are the plates rubbish too? Just seems cheaper for a starter to go with those but don't want to if no good

It is only 80kg of weight plates, the bar is 20kg. But they look like standard cast iron plates, not rubbish. I mean there isn't much that can go wrong with them really.
