Official Home Gym Building Thread

looks like a really nice haul there, i have 2 of those mats and they are the best ones out there for the money, i wish i could afford to plaster the full space with them but they are expensive.

2 of them manages to cover my power rack and give me enough space for deadlifts, which is quite frankly enough, so i have cheaper thinner rubber matting instead for other work which is adequate.

only thing missing are these imo

https://www.strengthshop.co.uk/weight-plates/fractional-plates/fractional-plate-package.html

they are great when you hit plateau's or want to break a PB, etc. well worth the money even though they are so expensive for such little weight.

would love to see pictures of your setup

Interesting, will look into getting some of those fractional plates, should hopefully have everything set up Saturday afternoon so will get some pics up.

Fractional plates are a waste of money unless you're very serious about Olympic lifting.

£30 is nothing when he has just spent over 10 times that i would imagine.

it makes it a lot easier to progress once you have stalled so worth buying imo.

fat gripz is another thing i could also recommend as an additional accessory to aid workouts and building your forearms up, costs about £15 for a pair iirc, might be cheaper.

Equipment arrived on Saturday, took ages to get it all up and running. Very happy with the quality of everything, the mats are excellent, four was the perfect amount for my training area.

Only item im not happy with is the weights tree, went for a cheap one, should have spent more, i may well upgrade this in the next few months (if it lasts that long).

Ignore the damp looking walls and dusty mats, cleaned them all after it was built -

A set of bands would be better and be more use in other ways than fractional plates.

Can you adjust the angle of the preacher pad?

I got the same weight tree, it's rubbish. Be careful with it, if you have too much weight on one side it falls down

The angle of the preacher pad is fixed, its just the height you can adjust (its this bench http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk...mmercial_preacher_curl_bench_grey/7093_p.html)

And yeah, the tree wobbles and just feels generally flimsy, not a good buy, will have to try and keep the weights semi balanced on each side.......

Yeah, chins and close pulldowns are better excercises and put the biceps through a fuller range of motion and have resistance at peak contraction, but I'm nursing an injury so I'm doing more isolation stuff for the next month or two before I get back to compound movements
