Think I will go with a 6ft bar since I will only be using the CF415 for the foreseeable future.

Will also pick the rubber plates, but having trouble calculating the total package for this set

http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk...bell-kit-with-6-ft-bar-and-spring-collars.php

It clearly says 100kg but with all the plates and 6ft 15kg barbell it only adds up to 95kg...

There is a 7ft similar package for 199.99 but I won't have the space for that.

Am I right in assuming the seller thinks the 6ft barbell weighs 20kg?

Or is it 5ft = 15 6ft = ? 7 ft = 20

Yes I think that's likely. It would be worth emailing them and asking. I'm no expert but I believe 7ft oly bars are 20kg and 6ft are 15kg. Someone on here may correct me but that was my understanding.

Just ordered my kit, can't wait to get started!

100kg of rubber weights + 6ft bar
York bench
CF415
1 packet of floor mats for rows/deadlifts

£440 in total. Hope they don't take weeks to arrive and they'd better be in brand new condition!

Well I'm not too impressed with what i've been delivered from Powerhouse Fitness.

Just had a look on my amazon order and the seller is PHF

Well I'm not too impressed with what i've been delivered from Powerhouse Fitness. My CF415 rack, was falling out of the box when it was delivered. Every single piece has scratches, Scrapes, and chipped paint, a couple of plastic bits/covers broken. It basically looks like it's had a few years use already. Not happy at the minute, and I bet it's going to be a while to get it sorted out.

Also seems like the bar I got from the strength shop is dodgy, the sleeves on both ends move up and down about 3-4mm. I'm more confident this will get sorted quickly. But i'm pretty annoyed at the minute with it all.

Still waiting on my fitness superstore order, hopefully that'll come early next week with no issues.

I've built the strength shop bench up and it seems really good, quite pleased with that. Just can't use it for a while now.

That rack looks awful. Definitely something gone wrong there - it looks used as you say.

I don't expect to hear anything from powerhouse fitness for a few day, but going to chase them tomorrow. Dread dealing with there customer service team based on the reviews i've read. It's pretty difficult trying to get hold of anyone to talk to on the phone, but obviously they want to see pictures, so i need to wait for a email response really.

It's never been put together, so it's possible it's happened in transit to be fair to powerhouse. I'm hoping they'll just offer me a large partial refund of say £75 or something to be honest. Surely it'd cost them £35-40 to pick this up and resend another one, plus they'll not be able to sell this one on for the normal price anyway so further loses there. I'm likely to get a full cage in the future, so this only needs to last a year or two.

I'm in conversation with strength shop at the minute regarding the bar. They say there isn't anything wrong with it, and the others are the same. I'm considering sending it back and going for the powerlifting bar. But if the sleeve are the same on that i'll not bother as it'll cost me another £150 to switch. The other issue with the cheaper 2028 bar that i ordered is that although it's rated at 700lb they only recommend a 200kg loading on it. the 1500lb bar has a recommended use of upto 250kg.

On ordering i just assumed these recommended loads were massively on the safe side as if the bar is rated for 700lb, it should be good for 300kg without bending. whats your guys thoughs on that?

Can anyone recommend another bar that is sub £200, that'll handle 250kg+ deadlifts? I'm only at 230kg now, but hoping i'll be over 250 in the future.

Hank - I'm not sure that bench will be suitable. It is max-rated to 200kg. Obviously if you only weight 50kg and can only bench 50kg then it's fine, but I'd take on board what you currently weigh and can lift and then look at alternatives.
As for why I bought rubber plates - 2 reasons; 1. They are not as noisy. 2. They won't rust. As I workout in a garage these were reasons enough to me to pay the extra (probably easier to flog if I needed to too).

Darrly - That's pretty shocking. Like you say it looks like it's had a couple of years use already. Dat box

Can confirm that york bench is crap. Bought it a couple of years ago when I was a noob and didn't know any better. Changing position is a pain and I have jammed my fingers on numerous occasions trying to shove the pin in all the way.

Now I'm going to upgrade to something decent, probably the ironmaster superbench.

Just got off the phone with powerhouse fitness and they're going to send me out a replacement CF415 today. But i can keep the original as spares.

So I've got two now, will probably throw one on ebay as i've not got the space to keep a spare, just got to decide whether it's worth keeping the new one or the old one, as i'll probably be able to get £100 for the new one to put towards more equipment.

So I'm looking at the CF415, but I can't find anyone who will ship to France. Well, saying that, I can, but it's 166quid delivery on amazon...

Anyone know of anywhere with EU delivery?

Thanks, that looks pretty good, they're only about 60 miles from me too. So can check it out in store and collect. Doesn't seem to be too many reviews though.

Also my Fitness Superstore order finally shipped today, only took them 6 workings days.

I've considered that bar, but like you said not a lot of reviews on it. I might just save up for a Texas power bar

I'm considering going down there on saturday to have a look at one. Going to try and give them a ring once i've finished work today to get a bit more info on it. It's only 60 miles from me, so an hour drive in each direction. (hopefully if i do go i'll not come back with a car full of stuff and a big overdraft/credit card bill)

Having now got a spare CF415 to sell that should fund the extra cost over the strength shop bar plus return postage to justify the purchase. Assuming it's as good as it looks.

I've found a few mentions of it on other forums and it looks positive. I'd rather not spend £350 on the Texes Power Bar if i can help it, but that's also a bar i'm looking at. However that will need to wait until much later in the year and i'll have to make do with the strength shop bar for a while if i decide thats the route i want to take.

Post it to me :p I'll have it haha

You're welcome to take it provided you sort out your own courier to collect it.

To be honest, I think for £160 ish including postage and warranty, etc it isn't too bad. It's a heavy piece of kit so postage post from the uk will be costly.

Also if you order directly from Powerhouse Fitness they give you a 5% discount.

Code I got given was: 63GKXP

knocks about £7.50 off

Hi,

I have been building my home gym in my garage since May last year. Due to height restrictions I opted for the Bodymax CF470 half rack and 145kg rubber oly weights. Since then I have bought a Reebok treadmill, few extra plates and recently a Bodymax CF660 high/low pulley. The only thing out of place in my gym is the crappy Marcy bench which I will upgrade soon.

I just had one question. The high/low pulley that I have is great with a max 270kg capacity. The problem with this machine is that even only 20kg of cable bicep curls causes the machine to lift off the floor and tilt. There are footplates to step on when curling to prevent this but it causes you to be too close to the low pulley. I have just stuck two 15kg plates on the foot plates so I can stand further back for my curls.

Did anyone else notice this? I'm sure lat attachments for racks wouldn't have this problem as it would be hard to lift the rack off the floor! And they say standalone units are better...

Could you secure the unit with some anchor bolts?

I was thinking about this but I don't want to mess with the flooring. I also have rubber mats covering my entire gym. Also I'd have to drill through the metal to anchor it and don't want to do that!

Would I be able to post links of my gym set up?
