*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

still doesn't work. The problem with when you get the WWE episodes is that they are named by date not by season and episode. The quickest way I have found is to manually use a tv show renamer (I cant remember the name its on my other laptop) and match each episode to the correct one which still takes a while because there is 52 episodes per year of each smackdown and raw

I believe the alternative here is to not watch Wrestling! :D

there are sites like subscene that allow you to download subtitle files.

With the plugin "XBMC Subtitles" enabled, you can even do this within xbmc while watching the movie you need subtitles for.

If you download them manually, outside of xbmc, copy them to the movie's folder, and rename them to be the same as the movie.

If the movie is
The Example Movie (2012).avi
change the subtitle to
The Example Movie (2012).srt
or
The Example Movie (2012).English.avi

Yeh I might just play the file, see what subtitles are present or not and see if I can download it. Am guessing it should keep the subtitle in the same folder as the movie and call it a relevant name?

If anyone can answer me this you will get brownie points.

Films and series work fine, no issue at all.

Music on the other hand. I have painstakingly gone through and downloaded album art pictures and put them in the album folders...yet XBMC only shows some of them, the others are filled in with 1 image from another band, in my problem a 30 seconds to mars album art. Very annoying! Has anyone else had this? Have a fix?

Cheers!

Sounds like the problem I had - that was caused by dodgy/missing ID3 tags in some of the music - I tried using Musicbrainz Picard & media monkey, but ended up deleting my music, then re-downloading my Google Music media which was basically the same thing - but pre-tagged as I had already gone through it.

Cheap remote you say? :p

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Plug-and-..._Remote_Controls_Pointers&hash=item416287fb62

I have 3 of these, the IR receiver works perfectly for my needs with my Logitech Harmony Remote. As you'd expect the remote is pretty cheap looking/feeling but does the job. Works with my Raspberry Pi when I need it to as well.

Just bought one, how have you got it set up within the Harmony software? I assume it's Microsoft, but then what?

Cheers

Yep +1 ..... come on RB let's see what your solution is.

I haven't had the time but the remote is more windows orientated and directly emulates keystrokes/mouse.... so I'm guessing a LIRC keymap must be used to get full functionality

I'll need to double check when I get home later but from memory the device is listed in the Harmony software under PC's and is down as 'Chinavision xxx' with the xx being some numbers.

I then have a custom keymap setup in XBMC to access the 4 coloured buttons, again, I'll post this up later.

Wow, just built a new XBMC box after being impressed with it on my Revo using an Intel i3 and an SSD along with Windows 8.

Absolutely flies, from boot to functional XBMC it takes about 8 seconds. The Revo takes about 25 seconds. Admittidly its cost quite a bit more than a Revo has but its certainly quicket than i expected. All fully passive to so completely silent. Bit unnerving though not even being able to hear a fan whirring.

Sounds good, got a complete spec for that?

CVSB-983 : Don't worry about it .... I've got all the keys mapped from that remote including the shift numeric keys - 46 keys in total :D

Set via evrouter and disabled the inputdevice from Xorg

Then learn them on the universal remote. Done

Yeah. It's

Intel i3 3225
Asus P8H77
Streacom FC8
150w pico psu
120gb Samsung SSD
8gb Samsung green ram
Windows 8 pro

Planning to add a blu ray drive eventually to. It's a little slower with the Aeon Nox skin but not by much.

I went for windows as I can use it with Netflix and as a general pc still aswell which is handy.

Controlling it using XBMC commander at the moment.

Thanks. You mention that it's a bit slower with Aeon Nox - presumably it's still pretty-much a fluid experience or does it stutter?

I have XBMC running on an i5-2500k and it's flawless. I'm trying to recreate the experience in a small, silent box in another room.

Does anyone use their ipad to control XBMC? What are the best apps to use? Im using the official one at the moment, the remote ontrol is great bt I dont like the way it displays my media.

I generally just use my Logitech Harmony, but XBMC Constellation is fairly good from the little I've seen.

Yep Yatse is simply the best on android.... not sure about iOS mind you.... Even though Yatse is amazing I have to agree with chrismox .... nothing beats a good old fashioned remote in your hand.

Does a remote do this?
