*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

How are you getting on with the skin? Any major problems? Not changed anything in mine for ages so might update the skin.

Also, what's the best scraper for music videos? I have a folder for all my concert videos and one for single music videos but the single ones are hit and miss for being picked up.

Did you have any luck with this? I've got loads of music videos but it's a bit rubbish using Kodi to play them.

Also how is yours structured? Am i right in thinking you have

Concerts\Artist-Concert

Music Videos\Artist-Song

Well decided to insteall the new Kodi 17 last night as had a fresh install to do so thought i'd have a play.

I really like the interface, although couldn't seem to be able to set up a section for addons from the Movies/TV Sections. It seems to only work from the Add On sections.

The Settings menu is much more straightforward though.

Still a bit buggy for my liking too. When changing the view to Infowall, you have to do it on every screen so

Videos\Movies\Genre\Action - Change to Infowall
Videos\Movies\Genre\Comedy - Change to Infowall
Videos\Movies\Genre\Horror - Change to Infowall

In the past you only seemed to have to do this once and it worked for all submenus. Means you'd then have to do it by year if you ended up searching for that aswell.

Some menus were very slick but others seemed to take a while to open up too.

Menu - Quick
Videos - Quick
Movies - Quick

Then click Genre/Years or anything which needs to load up the actual content and it took an age. Maybe that would improve slightly with improved caching.

Fair enough,I was thinking more of a standalone box really though.

Someone said an Amazon Fire stick side-loaded with kodi is the way to go and I've had a google,it seems you can get an android kodi box from £30 up to about £90.

Why run before you can walk? If you want to see what Kodi is like then try it on your PC, then buy a device if you're happy with it.

Guys - no more warnings. Anymore specific mentions of builds which are primarily for streaming illegally and you will have a 2-day holiday

I don't want this thread to disappear and neither do 99% of those that use this thread.

Guys I've been running OpenElec on a mini PC that is an i5, 2gb RAM and a 128gb SSD, I think this is completely overkill and it doesn't work very well with my Harmony remote (can't remotely turn it on) - thinking of buying something more tame and that will allow me to turn on and off with the Harmony, can someone recommend a box to do this on?

I use this, which sends signals from the TV to the PC https://www.pulse-eight.com/p/104/usb-hdmi-cec-adapter

Raspberry Pi 3 would work nicely, depending what your using OpenElec for. Has inbuilt CEC support and it pretty quick for what it is.

I've got Plexpass and tried using kodi and plex on my Pi 1 Model B so i don't have to have the ps3 on. It works but is a bit clunky. Would i notice much of a difference if i upgraded to a Pi 3 Model B?

So,I have Kodi installed on windows, have to say some of these add ons loook a bit dodgy.

Half of them are just an invite to ransomware aren't they?

^^^no talk about add-ons mate.

What do people think about the minix neo u1 android box?? Seems to be highly rated and thinking of getting one from a place called fasttech, cheap electrical good for excellent prices. Seems to be the real deal according to the description.

It's a bit of a minefield then,oh dear.

Apologies to all concerned if I wandered into dodgy territory, all assurances that no malice was intended.
