*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

I haven't messed about with that. It starts up to the Metro screen, and from there I have two tiles - XBMC and Desktop.

I can use my MCE remote to select "XBMC", and it loads. This is useful because it gives me the ability to turn it on, say to update it, without it auto-loading into XBMC.

Thinking of buying an Intel NUC and running W7 x64 Pro and XBMC.
Trying out XBMC on my laptop at the moment and can control XBMC using the XBMC app or the Yatse app on Android, what i would like though is a proper remote control or mini wireless kb/touchpad setup which the kids/wife would be able to use.

Anyone got one of these they can recommend?

I set up an Acer Revo for my parents (who are completely inept at technology) this was paired with an Emprex remote.
They had no issues in using it, and have been using for months

I don't know if this is the best place for Android talk, but I've just tested a development build on my Nexus 7 with hardware acceleration and its perfectly smooth. The only limit seems to be the wifi speed on the 7 for large HD files.

It seems that proper Android media centres might be just around the corner. As soon as there's a cheap android stick with one of the supported chip sets (like Tegra 3) and Wifi N then we should be rocking. Can't wait!

Well, I finally got mysql database up and running! My main htpc and my atv2 are now sharing the same database. However, first impressions are not very good. My main htpc is pretty fast so I don't really notice any change with thumbnails etc, the atv2 is a different matter. It was never the fastest but now it's very slow, it takes about 2 mins from pressing back during a movie to get back to the main menu - it just freezes the movie till it goes back. I usually exit xbmc and this also takes ages now.

Looks like another day of messing around to put everything back to the way it was. It's got to be easy enough for my wife to use otherwise she gets narked!

Problems with choppy video which I never had with Eden, just Frodo.

Did you try changing the audio settings within xbmc? I had the same - any video running about 1fps until I changed my HDMI settings within xbmc as in section 4 of this - sorted everything out for me (also saved me from exploding as I'd just finished modifying everything to my liking to then try a vid. grr..

I've got a question for people using ATV2 with XBMC Frodo.

When I'm playing a movie and exit by pressing back (menu button) it hangs for about 20 - 25 seconds before taking me back to the movie menu. I've tried it with TV Shows and it's fine so not sure what the problem is, I never had this delay using Eden. I only have movies and tv shows on my ATV2 which are stored on my NAS. I'm also using the default skin and no add ons. Running 5.0.2 (4250) if that helps.

Just to reiterate this. I had to change my audio from DirectSound to WASAPI and everything was 100% after that.

I don't have this issue myself. When you installed/upgraded to Frodo did you remove Eden first and then install Frodo or just do an apt-get upgrade?

I just did the update but I've since followed the wiki instructions to remove Frodo and then re-install. Is it possible to blank (like a format) the ATV2 so I could start from scratch? Or would this involve re-jailbreaking?

Noob alert

I have set up my XBMC, just scratching the service at the moment, however on Video playback I get no sound

I have tried a few MKV files but to no avail.

Any suggestions ?

Edit

Would appear it is the same with Music also

Yes you would need to restore it from iTunes/Seas0nPass to do a complete wipe/re-jailbreak and then follow the updated XBMC install guide to install Frodo fresh.

This is a great reason to run a MySQL library. Drop an advancedsettings.xml in the right place and your entire library is back in all of the blink of an eye instead of having to rescan. Backup your sources.xml too to make things even quicker.
