*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

We need more screenshots and videos in this thread!

I've installed XBMC on my laptop to have a play. Seems very slick and responsive. Will look at the TV solutions and see how they come off.

I think I will also give Media Portal a try, may as well try the lot I guess!

^^^^ Can't help you directly but have you tried to follow this....

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=78179

and install from here...

http://xbmccustomregis.sourceforge.net/features.html

XBMCCustomregis v2.60.12 installing the above and Autohotkey allows me to control XBMC pretty good with my MCE compliant remote.

The only thing that I seem to be missing is to resume from a S3 sleep via the remote - it used to work with Windows 7 but for now it doesn't with W8, but I'm not too bothered with that.

I use XBMC with a Harmony One remote and bought this a year or so ago. Works fine. But I am using Win 7 so cannot comment on Win 8. I certainly cannot see why not though.

Does that remote work fine with Windows and XBMC....?
If you have it does it show....

"IR Receiver listed as "Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver" under the "Human Interface Devices" in the "Device Manager"?"

for it to be fully compatible as a MCE remote....?

Thanks.

yes as it is IR RC6 Protocol.

I just said above, that it works fine with windows and xbmc. I have it set up on a HTPC under the stairs and the remote sensor hidden in the lounge. Picks it all up fine. Works great.

Cannot comment on the Human interface device as not at home at the moment. But I am pretty sure it does show up there as it needs to use RC6 protocol to work.

But yes, buy it. It will work. Will be fine.

Thanks - I appreciate your help :)

When I read your post I interpreted it as meaning the Harmony one worked fine and did not think that the comment applied to the remote you then linked.

This one would not be for me (I am sorted) but for my Son and the HTPC that I built for him. When some people note that it works they don't always think about button mapping and TGB, for example. I had previously bought one from Amazon but it needed to be returned (got a refund) as it turned out not to be a true MCE compliant remote as advertised and most of the functions did not work for XBMC, nor were they programmable.

Ordered one :)

i use xbmc but on a jailbroken ATV2.

works a treat.

i have Frodo installed on it, seems to be much smoother than eden and ive not had any issues with it.

i use constellation on my ipad and iphone to control it (always seem to lose the apple tv remote)

Hi

Please help, I installed the addon and then a screen appeared asking me to browse to the MAME.exe thingy but I didn't realise that I needed MAME installed on the machine

Anyway, I installed Mame and ran the rom collection browser but it just launced without the screen to configure the mame path etc...

How can I gt this running?

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing...I have even deleted the script rom collection browser from roaming xbmc addon folder meaning I had to download it again in XBMC

I'm running windows 8

The plan is to point the collection browser to \\server\games\mame

Thanks

I think some add-ons or skins save their data in the guisettings.xml file

You may find some entries related to this add-on in this file - make a backup copy, remove the lines that relate, and try running again.

Thought I'd add some screenshots of my setup, its fairly simple but needs to be to let the wife/kiddies use it :)

I will setup some profiles at a later date when I put it across the house, but right now, can't be bothered :)

As mentioned earlier, running a mysql database on my ReadyNAS meaning I can share across the house without having my main htpc on :)

All in all very happy with how it is working having come from a well established media browser setup. Missing a couple of things (sort by date being one), but otherwise couldnt be happier :)
