*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

Does anyone know of any nice touch friendly skins out there which have a PVR function too? Retouched, droid etc don't support PVR (and aren't very nice either).

Just got a Raspberry Pi and I'm running OpenElec on it. Probably been asked thousands of times in this thread but are there any torrent clients that actually run in OpenElec?

Recently picked up a Pi and I'm impressed with how well it copes with XBMC.

Now using it as my primary htpc and have converted the old noisy PC to a Nas in the loft.

I'm thinking of getting a Pi for xbmc, my only concern is whether it will play the .ts files which my Humax Fox2 pvr saves recorded programmes in?

Anyone know if it does?

Having some trouble with XBMC not picking up some films.

I've got all the Pixar Shorts with a Smart Playlist setup to just list all in their folder. XBMC is seeing 16 of them but I have 25 in total. One for example, Burn-E, doesn't show in XBMC but I've checked on themoviedb.org (which my scraper uses) and it's there and called exactly that.

Any idea why the scraper wouldn't match it and how I match it manually?

Ah, just found the problem, but it's a weird one. Two of the films are actually collections containing the remaining ones plus some duplicates. Tried cleaning the database to no avail!

Go into your file list in XBMC (can't remember how by default, think it's on a sub menu under movies), find a file not found > context menu > information > refresh. You can then edit what its searching TMDB for, probably a special character messing it up.

edit: too late.

Collections can be a useful feature, but they confused me at first too..
For the future, you can go to settings - video library, and uncheck "Group movies in collections".

Hi All, after some advice, I started using XBMC about a month ago and think it is awesome, I use a NUC that has the XBMC cient installed which is connected to my TV and have video files stored in two locations, my Synology NAS and my main PC. I have setup the XBMC library database on the Synology NAS using MySQL.

I now want to have all my video files stored on the same machine/location, I have recently built a HP Microserver with sufficient storage, I have copied all my video files that were on the NAS to the Microserver. My question is, how or what is the best method to transfer the MySQL database from the NAS to the Microserver as that is where I now want it stored as I will be selling the NAS?

Is it worth me just starting from scratch, so uninstall XBMC from the NUC, install SQL on the microserver, and start the install process again adding the new video shares in XBMC, etc?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't see why there would be any problems in exporting the database using a client like HeidiSQL, importing it to the new location, then updating the advancedsettings.xml to point to the new location :)

You could create a new db but you'd lose your watched lists or any customisation you'd done (editing sets etc)

Easiest way would be to export the library to "single files" (this creates XML files in the folders next to each video), and then re-scan the library, and ensure you put the "importwatchedstatus" flag into the advancedsettings.xml file

This will re-import all the information exactly as you'd configured it (if you'd manually set up any of the items), as well as your watched status.

Alternatively, if you haven't done any tweaks to the existing database, or don't care about your watched status, then just change the advancedsettings.xml file on the NUC to point at the new server for MySQL and just re-scan the library.

I've used lots of skins over the years, but settled on neon for ages. I'm now using Aeon MQ5 and it's fantastic. Only thing i don't like is i have to put BDrip in the titles of all my video files in order for it to pick a BD case. Neon was better in this respect as it analysed the actual video file instead of the file name.

I've been doing some tinkering with my setup and have pretty much got things the way I want (for now :P)

So far I have split kids/adult movies/tv shows etc. I can password protect if needed, but not necessary at the moment. I've also been editing the xml on some of the default views settings of MQ5 to make it a bit less intrusive.

Finally made the switch to MQ5 after starting to have a play and realising I can make it do what I want one way or the other, so its been a mini project getting it to work. It is definately quicker than Nox, especially when it comes to viewing all the movies, it just drops straight in, where I used to have to wait a few seconds.

I took a few screenshots here if anyone wanted to see how it looks - I know I always like to see how other people have things setup - can give me some ideas of my own :)

How have people got their music folders set up? Is it best to have Artist - Album or Artist with Album inside it?

I tend to go with album a-z as my default but then I don't have much music.

Also have artist and genre as other options in the submenu
