*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

I really liked MQ4 but 5 just seems overly complicated, I need to remove loads of options as I just use mine for movies and series, Also I liked his blue theme, red is not my deal at all!

How have people got their music folders set up? Is it best to have Artist - Album or Artist with Album inside it?

Unlike videos, for music, it doesn't actually matter - XBMC purely uses the tags in the files.

That said - I like to organise my music like I organise my TV shows, with music taking the following format:

Artist\Album\Artist - Album - Track# - Track Title.ext

Picked up a dvb-s2 card off the members mart and now I haz freesat everywhere :)

I have a NUC under my TV in the living room. I've got some old PC innards that I've stuck into a server case which is fitted into a cabinet to perform NAS duties - running Win7.

The NUC is running Win7 - if I install XBMC onto the NUC will I be able to access the files from the NAS and how do I get XBMC on the NUC to show movie covers for those movies stored on the NAS.

Also, my TV has Plex as an app - is that similar to XMBC?

Plex was originally a fork of xbmc. They do not look that similar though. Plex is lighter and has a server client model. XBMC is heavy, better looking and is a single application.

I run 2 NUCs both with XBMC and a server. All on ubuntu, but no reason not to use windows other than cost for no gain. If you only want XBMC on the NUC then checkout openelec.

My living room NUC runs both XBMC, Plex server, minecraft server and a bunch of other stuff.

Oh and check out pulseeights usb cec adaptor if you dcide to use XBMC.

I have decided to take the plunge and build a HTPC with XBMC. I recently had a Raspberry PI with RaspBMC installed but I wanted more power and features.

Now I am a bit of a noob when it comes to XBMC. Am I right to think that I should just download the official XBMC release and away I go? Or should I be looking at pre builds etc? Also getting it to boot straight in to XBMC, is the process relatively simple?
