*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

Can anyone help with a little request...

I have an Acer Revo with Frodo installed. The Acer Revo can only sleep and wake, obviously if I have it set to power of completely the external HP MCE remote receiver wouldn't pick up the turn-on command. That's fine. But... I often find when waking XBMC its either quite sluggish or doesn't wake my NAS or sometimes doesnt get an internet connection. All is resolved with a restart command and all works fine.

Given I have to do this everytime I wake the Acer, is there somehow a script or command that I can have set auto.

Something like; when wake, wait 5 seconds, then restart.

I'm assuming a small wait command would be needed to give a little time for XBMC to be come responsive after waking, before it can restart itself.

EDIT: found how to do it via SSH but was rather hoping for a add on where I can muck about with delays etc within xbmc gui

I also run a Revo but with Gotham rather than Frodo. I use xbmclauncher. This closes XBMC on sleep and starts it on wake. This way it updates my library. It still isn't 100% successful I find the best start rate by putting a delay of 10s in for XBMC start time.

Im using it with Win 8.1 and its just fine.

I must admit I waited about 30 seconds and decided to just go ahead and install it last night, I was replacing the HDD in my HTPC anyway so decided to go with Win8.1 x64 instead of W7 x86 and I've got to say I've seen a performance improvement.

Also the nvidia Ion drivers for Win7 x86 were so bloody unreliable it was a joke, had to reset the HTPC every time i wanted to use it really...so far on initial tests the W8.1 version seems a lot better, smoother video as well.

Well I've just made the "upgrade" from OpenELEC Fusion 3.2.4 to OpenELEC Generic 4.0 with my Acer Revo.

Had to revert back immediately. The screen resolution was zoomed. After trying to reset resolutions and make it scale properly, I've given up. Seems a few people have reported this, must be a driver issue. I could have used the calibration option in XBMC to manually skew the screen myself but I shouldn't have to - it should just scale 1:1. Back to 3.2.4 :(

Anyone know why Yatse and my SSH reboot app has stopped working on my XBMC Raspberry Pi? i rebooted it, and checked the IP and port and its as it should be yet no response on either app.

Just updated to Gotham 13 still the same problem, also my youtube app won't let me login anymore. I did the fix previous copying a certain sentence into the youtubelogin.py file and checked it again and it's still the same yet won't let me log in.

Ive just upgraded to Gotham and my wake up on lan wont work :(

Im using windows 8.1 on a HP microserver and usually use Yatse remote on my tablet or phone, with Frodo WOL works great but with Gotham it just wont work.

I havnt a clue why changing to Gotham would be a problem as it doesn't even load until Windows has started .....confused.

I can't figure out why my Yatse won't work. I reset the router and the ip address stayed the same on the Pi usually it changes when I do this because I haven't set a static ip.

Does Gotham still have the same choppiness issues when using fullscreen windowed mode and match refresh rate setting or is it fixed in this incarnation?

Apart from Netflix that's the only reason we use a WDTV in the living room atm and would prefer to go back to XBMC.

Edit - Nevermind answered my own question. 10m HDMI cable arrived this morning and fullscreen windowed is still rubbish when using match refresh rate. Time to build a dedicated HTPC i think.

I had almost the same problem on my Arctic MC001. I was tearing my hair out! Changed cables, plugged it in to another know working hdmi on my amp but nothing it was just outputting at 480p constantly as if the HDMI Handshake wasnt working. I tried plugging into a monitor and that worked fine.

The way i sorted it was to plug it directly into the TV and power off the system and reboot. Then it picked up the correct resolution etc. Then i connected back up to the amp and it is now ok (I think)...

I am now using the latest XMBC Gotham with Aeon Nox. Does anyone know how i can create a custom direct on the main menu to go directly to a folder on my server? I have tried ActivateWindow(Videos,SMB://Server/HD Movies, Return) and it does go to that folder but i normally have it set to showcase and the only options are List and Icons... :( Am i missing something? I am not really familiar with scripts and linux commands.

What i am actually trying to achieve is a simple but nice looking menu with HD Movies, SD Movies, TV Shows, Downloads, Music etc that are all on my server without having to go through several menus.

I run a Revo RL70 and haven't had any issues with the generic. I installed it onto a USB to boot from and it's been business as usual.

Hmm tempted to try it again now. I had exactly the same problem with the zoom issue. Tried installing it twice and in the end went back to frodo.

To be honest though in the time I played with gotham it didnt seem to offer anything new to me over frodo. So ill prob just stick with this until I eventually upgrade my Pulsebox to a silent nuc.

Just to update this thread.. Don't upgrade. I cant seem to get it to stick the resolution at 1080p :( It just changes when I power off the system and you have to unplug, plug directly into the tv to get the hdmi handshake and then plug it back into the amp. Its as if the unit isn't constantly keeping the handshake information within the driver :( Going back to the older version..

Done what it says on there including enabling true full screen and naming the file moviename (year).3d.hsbs.mkv

Just shows 2 pictures side-by-side on the tv? TV is a Panasonic 3D Plasma with active shutter glasses.
You might have to turn the 3d on on your tv manually, normally the device playing the 3d would send a signal to the tv to do this but maybe GPUs cant/dont do this?

My Pana doesn't automatically switch to 3D with the Sky box so I'm not surprised that you might have to manually turn it on with XMBC too.
